Staff were friendly, room reasonably clean, the drains in the bathroom smelt, paid for a room upgrade only to be overlooking the top of a roof top bellow, birds poo right in front of the window which obstructed the little view we did have. Definitely not the best hotel we have stayed in.

Checked into a room on day one that was different to the room I reserved and paid for via Expedia. The concierge stated they don't sell rooms like the one I was describing, then I showed the Expedia booking and they stated 'Oh we do have rooms like those, but we don't advertise them. Expedia was wrong.' Meant I stayed for the first night in a different room to what I reserved and paid for, then was moved to another room from night two onwards, which aligned to what I reserved. The hotel itself is very nice. Well designed. The rooms are small, but well put together. The views of the harbour are beautiful. There's a few issues with the room design which would be easy to rectify. The headboard is so long that it prevents the blockout curtains from reaching the wall. The result is that in the early hours of the morning, blinding sunlight will appear through the gap between the curtain and headboard, and lay right across the pillow, waking you up. There's a similar issue with the bathrooms which don't have blinds but used fogged glass. The glare in the morning was blinding. I needed sunglasses there just to brush my teeth and use the sink. The rooms are sold as soundproof, but that certainly wasn't the case. All night I heard the alarm sound from what I assumed was a driveway or garage door located on the street below. I also heard guests and staff in the halls at all hours, and heard the town hall clock chiming, which is directly opposite the hotel, every fifteen minutes from 5am

Staff were very friendly. We really appreciated the large room. Beds were very comfortable. Bathroom and shower were very good. Good quality tea was supplied. The afternoon chocolate time was a big treat, they tasted very good. Hotel is near shopping district. It is conveniently located close to all the places we wanted to see.

We stayed 4 days at the Movenpick Hotel. Very central location in the CBD but not much going on in that area. For restaurants open later and a more vibrant bar scene, stay near Salamanca Market. Check in was easy and quick. Room was a bit small but tidy and well organized. Bed and pillows were comfortable. Washroom was gigantic, almost as big as room itself. Cleaners were a strange in that they only did bed but didn’t wash mugs nor change towels despite being on floor. Check out was drawn out, which was frustrating. Only 1 of 3 elevators were working, which was annoying. All in all, a bit pricy for what you get and if I were to return to Hobart would probably stay elsewhere.

Our stay was affected very negatively by two of the three elevators (lifts) being out of service- long wait times, crowded lifts-, but worked on by techs. The staff seemed harried and a bit out of their depth by the situation. didn't try the breakfast so can't comment.

The room was very clean, we were upgraded to a harbour view with a nice outlook. The staff were friendly and helpful, the breakfasts and dinner at the hotel restaurant, Tesoro, was excellent. Location was fantastic, near the piers, Salamanca, city, and ferry and bus services.
