This is such a beautiful unit in Maui. You can see whales out in the distance from the balcony and walk up to a little patch of beach to take a dip in. Absolutely will book here again next visit! Aloha. :)

This is my favorite property on the island and I have been coming for 15 years. Nothing beats the location and the view. Valerie in the office is amazing and always happy to accommodate any needs that you have. We will continue to return here in the future. Thank you again Valerie!

The cleaning team did a good job getting the place ready, but the unit itself is very old and needs remodeling. The wood throughout the unit looks outdated, and we saw roaches every other day during our stay.Having carpet in a beach house isn’t a great idea and it made us question how clean it really was. The doors, windows, kitchen utensils, and bathroom are all extremely old, which made us wish we had stayed in a newer apartment instead.The view is beautiful, but the inside of the unit really needs improvement.

Great location and views

The location was great as Kaanapali always has breezes for cooling and this condo has access to both a public beach to the left of the building and a private beach to the right. Also Kaanapali has great infrastructure so no fear of flooding.Grounds and pool are very well maintained by Monday to Friday manager who works those days and on the weekend an onsite owner.Got to see turtles very close up on the beach eating seaweed off the coral, saw monk seal catching and eating fish off shore and lots of whales far off shore.Note if you are looking for peace and quiet this condo may not for you as you get to continually hear the surf and with louvered screed windows open to allow air flow you do hear your neighbors normally generated sounds. Also on the Lanai the wall between you and your neighbor does not extend all the way to the railing (see picture). They do have quiet hours implemented 10PM to 8AM but because of the nature of having the louvered screened windows open in all the units you do hear some noise from your neighbors after 10 but its not bad, just a warning if you are looking for complete quiet and peace then this unit not from you.The cabinets and walls in bathroom could be updated as well worn but all was very clean and easily usable so for the price it was fine.

Overall, I recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: We spent 10 glorious days at Hale Kai in units 214 and 215. They are in a perfect location for all manner of Maui activities. Great sidewalks for walking. Easy to get to the stores and restaurants and best part was it was whale watching season. We didn't want to go anywhere since the views were outstanding. We saw hundreds of humpbacks spy hopping, tail slapping and spouting. Also, the green sea turtles hang around the beach everyday. It was a real treat. The condos were well appointed. Just wish we had brought our binoculars.

Reviewer Comments: First, you can not beat the location. the rooms vary in condition based on the last time the room was updated. room 214 needs attention. the bed was a full and not appropriate for a couple. the furnishings are dated but clean. overall the best part are the people who stay there and the million dollar view. Manager responded on 5/13/2014: Aloha, Our views are absolutely amazing, as you while away the time on the lanai and watch beautiful sunrises and sunsets. Mahalo

Snorkeling/swimming from small beach next to pool. Lots of coral and fish. Entry and exit to deeper water beyond the reef is a bit tricky due to rocks/coral so recommended only for experienced swimmers. Outside showers at pool to wash off sand. Comfortable lounge chairs with some umbrellas. Really liked the setting and I plan to return. Manager responded on 9/30/2013: Mahalo for your summation of Hale Kai and your perceptive advise when snorkeling or swimming in unfamiliar waters.
