Great location, but the property needs better facilities like Moana and the Sheraton. For example, lining up in the morning for 20 mins to order a non barista coffee at the bakery (which oddly closes midday?) is crazy.

I was very disappointed with the level of service and overall cleanliness during our stay. Room smelt very musty, and blinds were filthy. Unfortunately, this experience has left a negative impression, and I would not choose to stay at the Royal Hawaiian again.

Terrible! THEY DONT ACCOMMODATE -EVEN IF YOU TRY TO PRE-PLAN DIRECTLY WITH THE HOTEL. no matter how far in advance you try! I booked 2 room w/TWO double beds each room. I got 2 rooms w/one king bed in each room. FORCING 2 people in same Bed!!! NOT WHAT I BOOKED. - I asked ahead of time, via email, for joint rooms and ADA (for sister) Hotel told me to call EXPEDIA to change but Expedia could not (per Expedia) however Expedia did offer to send a big note, and they did, which I saw on booking info. MY MAIN POINT - THEY DONT ACCOMODATE! And they said they can't guarantee the booking - not even the 2 bedrooms w/2 doubles - they were sold out they said! They couldn't accommodate my almost 10K stay !!! What a joke! I have never,in all my travels, had a hotel force on you something completely different than what you book!

The property is beautiful and in the middle of everything. The only thing I didn’t like were the resort fees that are not mentioned anywhere until you check in… be prepared to spend a few hundred dollars more.

Longtime Loyal Guest — Extremely Disappointed I have been traveling to Hawaii and staying at the Royal Hawaiian for over 25 years, usually for 10 days or more each visit. I’ve always loved this property — until now. This time, we booked through Expedia to get a better rate after speaking with Bonvoy directly and finding their prices unreasonably high. Unfortunately, from the moment we arrived, it was obvious we were being treated differently because we didn’t book directly through the hotel or Bonvoy. We were rushed, made to feel unwelcome, and overall treated like second-class guests. Adding to the disappointment, we paid extra for an oceanfront room — but ended up with a view mostly blocked by palm trees. When we addressed the issue, there was no urgency, no apology, and no attempt to correct the situation. This property used to feel magical, filled with genuine warmth and aloha. Now it feels cold, corporate, and transactional. As a loyal guest who has chosen the Royal Hawaiian for decades, it’s heartbreaking to see how far the experience has fallen. Booking through Expedia should not mean you get treated differently — but sadly, that was our experience.
