Superb 19C stone house with yard, 3 mins walk - no steps - to Hydra port
Blissful relaxation in the residential heart of Hydra town. Enjoy casual, understated luxury and ecological design that reflects the pride and tradition of generations of islanders: everyday heroes, artists and celebrities alike. Lounge, dine, socialize with special friends and family or just gaze at the stars from your yard. Follow the island's natural rhythms with a healthy, social and outdoor lifestyle. Easy no stairs three minutes’ walk on cobbled paths to all Hydra port has to offer.
The 200 years-old house was passed from generation to generation of working sponge divers and fishermen. The pride of its owners is reflected in the austere architectural volumes and their sculptural beauty - typical of Hydra island – both humbly preserved in the recent renovation.
You will enjoy casual, all-natural materials, and minimalist décor that brings out the beautifully raw qualities of the stone structure. All furniture, sinks and even wall lights are hand-made by Greek craftsmen, and original art by Greek artists adorns the walls.
Note your booking is inclusive of all taxes, including 15 EUR/night tourist sustainability tax.
The villa consists of two buildings - the old 2-floor stone house, and the (more recent) guest house, around a beautiful 65m2 outside private yard/patio on three levels, all enclosed within the private villa area complex.
Access to the villa from Hydra port does not require climbing stairs. The ground floor areas of the villa including the guest house (with double bed and en-suite), main bathroom and main yard are easily accessible to people with reduced mobility.
Note there are no cars, motorcycles or bicycles anywhere on Hydra Island. Primary transport is by walking, assisted by donkeys and water taxis.
The indoor layout is open plan with no internal doors, walls or partitions allowing abundant natural light and ventilation, even at the expense of some privacy. Full-length white curtains substitute for internal doors, providing a delicate balance between spaciousness and privacy.
The kitchen is very well equipped, particularly for healthy cooking and eating – you choose whether to cook indoor or outdoor or a bit of both.
The yard is perfect for warm gatherings of friends, families and special guests, under the stars or under the morning shade. Please respect quiet hours.
It is an easy two minutes’ walk along charming cobbled paths to all amenities, shops, eating, arts and entertainment options available around Hydra port. There are no steps to climb to or from the villa.
The nearest supermarket is within a minute walk, as is the main town square with eating and cafe options.
Beach boats and water taxis can be found straight ahead when you reach the quay. The nearest swimming point, Spilia, is a further five minutes’ walk along the sea-side path.
Continue on the paths either side of the picture-perfect port for stunning sea-side walks and jogs, longer for scenic and rewarding hikes to untouched parts of the island.
The villa is designed and equipped for active, healthy living, and incorporates a number of ecological features. Traditional wooden windows are fitted with double glazing and retractable screens for worry-free use. Energy-efficient air-conditioning/heating and appliances, low wattage LED dimmable lights are fitted throughout the villa.
A restored, fully-functioning cistern provides an authentic rainwater outdoor shower experience after a hot morning at the beach, a jogging session or your hiking adventure. (It also provides an alternative water supply when needed).
Expect to live like a local in this quiet, charming residential neighborhood in Hydra town, in touch with the daily natural rhythms of this very special island and its people.

Perfect base for a Hydra trip
House is perfectly located in the center of town. Easy walk to the beach and restaurants. Didn't spend much time indoors but house was appointed with everything we needed and extras (movie projector, washing machine , etc...)
Would love to stay again!

Donkey days
Hydra is a special place - no cars, no noise, another than the clop clop of donkey’s passing by. We loved the place and island so much we extended a day! Jump in the water is clear.

Best property ever!
Lovely quiet location, easy access to the Port, supermarkets, and restaurants of this wonderful island. The layout was wonderful for two couples and the terraces were brilliant for eating outside and relaxing within easy reach of the well appointed kitchen. Our friends loved the use of the main bedroom in the villa while we enjoyed the well appointed annex in the courtyard. It was a very happy stay for all of us and would revisit in a heartbeat. We were met at the Port by the friendly and helpful manager Tracy and as said there was very little difficulty with the steps even though there were many. Thank you Harinos for your help and your glorious properrty

Charming stay in Hydra
The property is well presented and it did accommodate 8 people (2 families of 4). Although we had to spend some time to figure out how best to allocate bedding because it’s not all conveniently located. Essentially, all living space was taken up by bedding, so there was no area we could use to relax internally during the day. The owner Dimitri has said they will market the property as a 6 person property going forward.
We liked the outdoor seating area but I think it could do with a covered area to shelter from sun and rain. The flimsy outdoor umbrella really takes away from the property’s charm.
We really liked the large fully equipped kitchen which we used to make cooked breakfasts every morning.
The location was very convenient, which doesn’t require any assistance for luggage transportation.
Privacy is a bit of an issue when wanting to use the bathroom facilities... I think installing a door to the toilet and shower rather than a curtain would be appropriate. Dimitri has taken on this feedback and will be making changes to make the facilities more private.
There is also a large area for laundry facilities.
I think with a few extra touches this could be a great property for 5 to 6 people.

Beautifully restored home that was close to town! Wonderful hosts that answered questions promptly!
Harinos has created an incredible home on Hydra. The property was immaculate and very thoughtfully designed to reflect a remarkable degree of environmental and historical consciousness. The property lies approximately four city blocks above the central harbor and promenade and is a wonderful location for your stay in Hydra. We enjoyed dining at Isalose for both breakfast and dinner ( many places were closed during low season) and there was a supermarket within about a block of the home. The silence at night without motorized vehicles was a welcome relief after several evenings in both Athens and Nafplio. We enjoyed long walks along the shoreline paths and although high winds delayed our departure, we managed to use the local ferry to Metochi which was a minimal 25-30 minute voyage.
The home and Courtyard were marvelous for relaxing at night and we enjoyed a lovely evening outside beside the fireplace once the winds had subsided. Thank you kindly for the use of you home and if you ever choose to visit the Caribbean, please give me a call and you are welcome to stay in our island home in the Dominican Republic.
