Staff very helpful & parking at hotel! Location is central but ilfracombe, close to seafront and harbour. Easy to get to by car! Hotel is very dated and run down needs a serious revamp. Shower not powerful at all, bed rock solid.. walls so thin other guests keeping us up all night. We booked hotel last minute due to our air b&b being cancelled … £100 for 2 nights we weren’t expecting great things…

Think twice!

This hotel looks nothing like the pictures on Hotels.com. We had no hot water, the room was so hot we were up half of the night. It doesn’t meet the standards of a basic room. The staff were lovely and are unfortunately working for what I expect is a sinking ship. Bank holiday weekend and only 9 rooms booked. Barely saw another person during our stay there.

Welcoming staff

A very welcoming atmosphere and the room was good value for money. Unfortunately, there were a lot of hairs on the floor of the bathroom, so it could have been cleaner, but otherwise no complaints

Breakfast was good and plentiful and well served, Dinner not so good, selection was poor, probably because l was the only guest for dinner must be difficult to cater for one. The service was good, but selection of menu was not good for me.

Lovely friendly hotel

This is our 3rd stay. The rooms have been upgraded and we had a nice view. We are always made to feel welcome by the wonderful friendly people on reception. We arrived early but were able to leave our bags in reception. Parking is payable and you need to arrive early. However, we know the area well and thete is free on-steet parking nearby if you know where to look.

SCAM - hotel does not exist.

This hotel is permanently closed. Fortunately I checked on Apple Maps to see the location in relation to my job in the area. No answer when I called and then got disconnected. I am now waiting for a refund from Hotels.com as they already took my money

The hotel was in desperate need of refurbishment. Damp areas on corridor wallpaper and scratched and dirty skirting boards. Clothing hook hanging off shower room door and shower surround grubby. My son's room has no mattress protector. No one manned the lounge bar, you had to go to reception and ask the receptionist to come and serve drinks and wait until they had finished check in no snacks available . Tea and coffee in room but no courtesy biscuit. We were only there for 2 nights to view properties in the area and were aware the room rate was very cheap but had I booked for longer I'd have checked out. Will not return.

A nice hotel, well positioned for walking access to the lower town & harbour area which was great for an daytime or evening stroll & friendly welcoming staff, a clear winner on breakfast, very well cooked, plenty of choice, generous helpings . Overall a clean, tidy hotel, good sized comfortable room, the only let down was the plumbing, struggle to get hot water from taps consistently. Parking a bit limited, but walking around, even out of season, it looked like a problem for residents, never mind visitors.

The good points are that the rooms were large, bed was comfy, refreshment tray was better stocked than usual, a very good breakfast, friendly and attentive staff and a convenient location right on the front. It was also a low price that would usually reflect excellent value for money. It was also busy for the time of year with a range of different guests. However, the bad points are that the stay was somewhat ruined by the (rightly very loud) fire alarm going off at 1.10am and then again briefly at 1.45am followed by a guest loudly knocking someone's door for ages at 3am. This was raised with staff in the morning who said that the guests had been dealt with overnight, had already been removed & would not be returning. Whilst unreasonable guest conduct is clearly outside the direct responsibility of the hotel and prompt action taken, I do think on reflection that other guests should have been refunded some of their night (with the hotel then reclaiming costs incurred through a civil action against offenders). If you stay at a hotel, you expect a reasonably comfortable night & not to be persistently disturbed in the early hours. My room also smelt of smoke despite the no smoking signs along the corridor, wifi was intermittent and the walls were thin so noise was transferred from around the hotel. All bearable though (especially taking the good points into account) but the disturbed night was not. I don't know if this was just very unlucky but it put me off returning.

Thank you The Dilkhusa Grand Hotel

Staff were friendly and very professional, nothing was too much trouble for them. They also had good knowledge of Ilfracombe and gave good advice on where to go, what to see, and knew what was happening (i.e. where local bands were playing etc) at night time. My room was clean, tidy, warm, with a lovely power shower. If i had to 'nitpick' i am quite a large person, but, my shower was quite small. However, this would not put me off from booking again and recommend to family and friends. Defiantly a value for money hotel.
