Creagan Na Mara is a traditional style thatched cottage completed in May 2015, built on the footprint of the original cottage, with all the stone coming from the original house or locally sourced. The cottage provides accommodation for four people in an idyllic setting on the island of North Uist in the Outer Hebrides and is within walking distance of Lochmaddy. It is situated on a peninsula on the shore of Loch Blashival which has been designated as a Site of Special Scientific Interest by Scottish Natural Heritage. The property is deceptively spacious and furnished with quality and style ensuring all comforts are met for an enjoyable stay. It boasts an enviable, beside the sea location where there are otters, curious seals and a mass of seabirds all of which you can enjoy watching from the comfort of the cottage. For those looking to explore the area, the property serves as a great base for touring.
The Uists have so much to offer for the outdoor enthusiast with wonderful walks along the famous white sands or walking in the hills to catch a glimpse of the golden eagle or wild red deer. The island is a mecca for those interested in bird watching as sea eagles, golden eagles, corncrakes, and hen harriers are only a few of the local species. The RSPB reserve at Balranald is only a short drive away from the cottage where you can enjoy looking for the corncrake or walking on the flower carpeted machair. Whales and basking sharks visit in the summer and can be seen regularly offshore around the islands.. Those who love to fish can enjoy sea and loch fishing which is available locally (permit required for lochs).
The sunrise, sunsets, seascape, landscape, and dark skies are sure to amaze you so come, explore and enjoy!
