We arrived on Christmas Day, and staff had cleverly arranged for us to get into our room while they were off; we registered the following morning when they were back in the office. They had left a tin of cookies in the room as a welcome/holiday gift, which was very kind of them.
The room was somewhat basic, but we had everything we needed. The beds were comfy, the shower was refreshing, and the room was spotlessly clean.
We ran into a bit of a snag registering the next morning, as my husband went to the Front Office while I finished getting ready. I had made the booking, and his name is different from mine. He was a bit put out by having to produce my ID as well as his (another trip back to the room, not a big deal IMO). Then, although he signed to show he had read and agreed to the rules of the motel, he said they made him listen to them READ them to him, too. That was a bit over the top, we thought. (We are 70+ years old and pretty tame.)
There is a walk directly out to the beach that is great, even in the winter on a mild day. I have since recommended the motel to others twice already, and we would definitely return if back in the area.
I did deduct one star because of the Front Desk experience (I would have only taken off half a star if I could have). While I understand why the innkeepers might reiterate the rules, it negates the favorable impression the cookies made and the motel in general. Perhaps they could consider taking the rules thing down a notch.
