Staff is very friendly! They work extremely hard and are often under appreciated by the guests. Although it is an all-inclusive resort, we did tip servers & bartenders (housekeeping is a separate service fee). The resort is in serious need of repairs and updating. Rooms are outdated. Limited outlets for charging. Beach towels are readily available & you can swap out wet/dirty towels for clean ones. The pools are clean and well placed. Plenty of lounge chairs. The beach is gorgeous! Some of the palapas (beach cabanas) have rotting roofs. We did see some construction taking place, so perhaps there will be improvements in the near future. Limited dining options: one buffet for breakfast & dinner; one poolside grill for lunch; one formal dining area that has limited seating & requires same day reservations. There is a coffee bar but the guests seem to outpace the staff’s ability to replenish the coffee quickly enough. There are panhandlers on the beach. Some are looking to book you on excursions, some are selling wares, others are looking for free food, drink & cash handouts. There are security guards hired by the resort, but unless you tell security that you don’t want to be approached by panhandlers, security will ignore the panhandlers and you will be continuously approached. All non-motorized activities are included but you need to be aware of the jet skiers who race up & down the shoreline. Mosquitos/sand flies abound at dawn/dusk. We brought deet wipes & were fine.
