Mariott should spend some money on a renovation

There are a ton of better options in Kansas City, please don't fall for the pix and good reviews. I stayed one night in July 2025 and this place is a total dump. 3.5 stars is more like 2 stars....the hallway carpet is filthy, the rooms are worn and broken, the windows are dirty, the room was dirty, the AC didn't quite work. When you check in, the clerk says, "we serve a European-style buffet every morning from 6-10," neglecting to mention it costs $10 and is not included in the room price. If I'm every in KC again, I'll be sure to stay elsewhere.

The property was nice, but it looked like a cheap hotel that was trying to look fancy. It did have a nice walk in shower and I loved the vanity area. The shower was not totally clean, there was mildew in the grout and around the edges of the shower on the outside and inside. The bed was very hard and felt like sleeping on a cardboard box.

Rebecca at the front desk is an absolute gem! I cannot say enough good things about how helpful and wonderful she was to our family. Room was clean and comfortable. My only complaint is the bathroom door. There is a large gap and with the chrome frame you can see the reflection of whoever is in the bathroom. Otherwise our stay was perfect.

Not the Typical AC Hotel This Time

Stay was good overall. Concierge was able to address our issues in a respectful manner. However, check in was a bit difficult because there was no parking and no sign for check in. It was clean on day 1 but when we got back to the hotel midday on day 2, electricity was out. So we stayed out but when we got back, our room was full of bugs by the sink and bathroom area so we asked for a change of rooms but they only had 2 full beds left. Also not a fan of the order of their bed sheets. I always thought the flat sheet is what touches your body, not the actual comforter. We usually like to stay at AC Hotel but not sure if this is a one-off situation.

The guest room finishes did not hold up. The vinyl plank floor is worn around the edges from buckling. Also room I was in did not have a window you could look out. Frosted glass. Awful when you want to see what king of day it is.

Great place to stay. I will say the walls are pretty thin so you can hear almost anything. I didn’t love the fact that I also had to pay for parking but I think that’s a theme nowadays. Overall, great hotel in a good location. There are lots of restaurants within walking distance
