6/10 Okay

This was our second time staying at this property, as it is close in proximity to our daughter's home in the Volker neighborhood. I guess I remembered it more fondly, enough to book it again, but I'm afraid to say that three years seems to have taken its toll somewhat, and it is definitely in need of a zhuzh up. As with most of these rental properties, the owners typically buy a home, do a quick reno, and photograph it while it's fresh and newly decorated. Several years and numerous visitors later, the place begins to look worn. And in this case, it seems that no care has been taken to maintain the interior. The bathroom, in particular, needs a good coat of paint or two...and much more. The shower curtains were pink with mold and smelled. The water pressure in the shower was actually decent, but the ants climbing the shower walls made it quite unpleasant. Additionally, there was no lamp on one side of the bed, and neither of the lamps in the LR were functional, as they were both missing their on/off knobs. And while the property does offer a washer/dryer, note that it is in the very creepy, unfinished basement. Also note that there is a separate rental unit upstairs, so you may have someone walking around above you. In our case, the upstairs neighbor was lovely and very mindful, so it wasn't a problem-just a note.I'm disappointed that the property didn't work out for us this time, as the location is very convenient. But we won't be booking this property again in the future.
