Last minute find, with wow factor on arrival
Pros:Beautiful landscaping and rooms
Pool access from one's room
Strong shower pressure and heat
Pancakes with chocolate sauce
Charming staff at the spa
Cons:Housekeeping should by default knock on doors before entering rooms
Unanswered calls to spa or elsewhere should auto-divert to reception or concierge
Location:Rock Beach Bar nearby for a spectacular sunset drink (and they also have a pool)
Easy access to Saladan area, with many dining and tour options
Koh Lanta was a complete afterthought on this trip, so it was a delight to find a couple of rooms left at the Crown Lanta.
Set conveniently close to Saladan Pier, the resort really captures that feel of an oasis, after many hours on a cramped bus from Ao Nang, with a driver that is less interested in vehicle propulsion than making unexpected stops to chat to his mates. Resort staff are very welcoming, and prepared with a chilled welcome drink, and a lemongrass scented hot towel.
I stayed in two different rooms, and strongly recommend the Pool Access room. It felt rather decadent having a room with a spacious balcony, deckchairs and access to the pool a few steps from your bed. Both rooms had excellent showers, in terms of pressure and heat, though the Pool View room shower was larger and shielded by leafy palms.
Staff are generally very keen to help, and the spa staff in particular are exceptionally friendly (even supplying some green balm for some very mosquito-bitten feet). However, 2x different staff walked straight into the room, without knocking, twice. I mean, it's not like I was naked, but what if I had been? Also, some parts of the resort may be a bit understaffed - multiple calls to the spa from the in-room phone went unanswered (but then you can just walk on over and talk to them).
Breakfast at The Peak restaurant is spectacular; fantastic views, and thick, fluffy pancakes with chocolate sauce are the stuff of a solid day's start when vacationing.

Luxurious resort
Pros:The friendliness of the staff and the way every need and request was looked after. The grounds and the apartments were kept clean and tidy.
Cons:A fan in the apartment would be great. I don't like having air conditioning on all night.
Location:Long Beach a short walk away which has heaps of places to eat or have a massage. From the hotel you can book a wide range of outdoor activities.
A beautiful spot on the headland overlooking the beach. Short walk to Long Beach. Loved the huge pool outside each apartment. The Reggae Bar was a lot of fun and enjoyed the fire throwing show. Staff very friendly and attentive. Great place to relax in a beautiful setting.

Cool off in one of the 2 outdoor swimming pools at Avani+ Koh Lanta Krabi Resort, and enjoy amenities like a 24-hour fitness center and a steam room. There are 2 restaurants on site, along with a snack bar/deli. You can enjoy a drink at one of the bars, which include a poolside bar and a bar/lounge. Public spaces have free WiFi. Free self parking is available. A complete renovation of Avani+ Koh Lanta Krabi Resort was completed in January 2021. This 4.5-star Ko Lanta hotel is smoke free.
