How about a lock box rather than a phone call?

As a US traveller, my cell service is spotty at best in Croatia. But this place requires you ping them in real time to get the key. I told him exactly when we were showing up but he wasn’t ok with meeting based on that, so my kids sat in the sun while I begged shop keepers for access to WiFi so I could say “I am where I said I would be at the time I said I would be there!”. They need to make this process more internet friendly or just show up on time. Paying my money but then explaining to my kids why we were not sure if we had housing was awkward and unnecessarily difficult. Having said all that - great location and cute flat on the beach in a nice neighbourhood. Just started out disappointingly..
