Second visit this year, which was not as good as the first. Insufficient towels. The sink was old, repainted and distressed. Shower valve difficult to control as it tended to shutoff by itself. No coffee supplied and fridge didn't work (had to be replaced). Maintenance responded fairly well. We liked the location, very convenient to the Pavillion. The staff was always friendly and helpful. Breakfast was fair. The staff was a bit overwhelmed by a very large contingent of tourists converged for Rotary convention. We have always enjoyed our visit to the Royale Chulan, which provides excellent service and value. We would return again.

A wonderful experience. Our third time here. Reasonably priced, excellent food and service, especially the staff at the Heritage Club for our Valentine celebration. Chef Melvin and Manager Daniel saw to every detail to make our evening run smoothly and deliciously. The breakfast staff was right there at our service; they were very courteous and helpful, which made our breakfast experience very enjoyable and relaxed. Our credit to management for maintaining a high level of customer satisfaction and genuine service. Bravo!

The hotel is about a 10 min walk from the Pavilion mall which is fine if you want to eat in the food court or you can walk outside the mall for more restaurants. The hotel does not serve alcohol and we found it a little inconvenient to have to walk that far when we would like to relax with a beer in the hotel. This wasn't mentioned on the details on Expedia, otherwise we may have chosen somewhere else to stay. The lounge area in the hotel is fine but a little soul less, you can get a soft drink there, however a can of sprite is about £4 GBP which is extremely expensive compared to anywhere else in the area. They could perhaps offer a range of non alcoholic cocktails to make it a more appealing venue and attract more guests. The pool area is lovely for a dip. The hotel also charges a tourist tax of 10 myr per night which was not mentioned in the hotel details on Expedia either.The rooms are tired and the air con is very noisy but effective. The bed was very comfortable but we could hear our neighbours through the thin walls. Buffet breakfast was very good too. Overall not a bad hotel, and good value for money but it has so much potential to be better.

Location is great!

We have stayed at the Chulan for years. We find the location is great as we can park and then walk everywhere we want in Bukit Bintang/KLCC. The rooms could use some tlc. One this visit we had to ask for a replacement refrigerator as the freezer door was gone and we had food that needed to be kept frozen. Then all the hall lights in the room had to be replaced as they had burnt-out. the safe was not working again. This seems to be a problem as our last 2 stays, the safes in the rooms were not working. It was too much of a hassle to get them fixed/repaired. The staff do their best and are kind and friendly. I just wish maintainace in the rooms were a bit better. We enjoy our stays and will continue to visit the hotel during our stays in KL.

Great stay at this hotel. Perfect location, 5 minute walk from the Pavilion mall and 10 minutes from the heart of Bukit Butang, but far away enough from the noise and business. Hotel itself was clean and the room was great. Large bed, very comfortable. Huge fridge with a replenishment of water each day. Bathroom was huge too. The breakfast buffet was the best ive been to - stay at this hotel just for this! 9 different stations so the variety of food to choose from is great. The options changed slightly each day too which was exciting. So much and very tasty and freshly made. Incredible fruit, omelettes made to order, indian area, veg cooked on the grill for you, ramen station, pastry/bakery, salad, huge choice of hot and cold drinks. Really recommend.
