The Blossom was probably our most fondly remembered hotel on this brief trip to Japan (Intercontinental Tokyo Bay and Cerulean tower in Shibuya were also excellent). Sleek entrance and design features that work well (sliding doors to entrance, stone lanterns and Ryoan-ji style rock garden). The Blossom is a smaller hotel and the service is extremely customer focussed. Umbrellas always available when it rained, and the guest refreshment area in the basement was replenished regularly. Plus the self service laundry facility was a lifesaver and policed with equanimity (leave your thongs in the machine beyond the time of your dryer cycle and the front desk staff will remove them). Check in was relaxed and the complimentary bar drink much appreciated. The ofuro in the basement was also excellent and the policy re tattoos was a bit more relaxed than elsewhere (cover them up and you’re ok). Rooms on smaller side but perfectly presented with a nice mock-tatami flooring that was a practical yet traditional alternative to the carpets in most other rooms in which we stayed. Well located for Kyoto station - about 15 mins walk or a Y800 cab fare.
