Pier Cottage in beautiful Kinlochbervie, in the unspoiled North West Sutherland

Pier Cottage is located in Kinlochbervie, a fishing village in the stunning north west highlands of Scotland.
Situated on the edge of the village less than two minutes walk from the shores of Loch Clash, a sea loch with a small pebble and sand beach. The cottage is set in a mature private garden with private parking for up to three cars
Pier Cottage has a large open plan sitting room with dining area that comfortably seats six. The kitchen is modern and well equipped. There are three spacious bedrooms ( two double and one twin), the master bedroom is en-suite. We can provide travel cot and a high chair if required.
Kitchen has fridge freezer, electric hob and oven and dishwasher. Washer and dryer are in the porch/utility
The cottage has recently been totally refurbished to a high standard and has oil fired central heating
Kinlochbervie is an ideal base for exploring the beautiful north west, boasting stunning scenery with mountains and unspoilt beaches galore
Close to well stocked village shop
Fresh local seafood is available, my husband being a prawn and lobster fisherman, it’s literally from boat to kitchen
Well behaved dogs are welcome, but we would ask that they be restricted to the living areas and not allowed on the furniture. Kinlochbervie is a crofting area with sheep and cattle, so dogs do need to be on a lead if not used to livestock
The cottage has a non smoking policy

Immaculate cosy cottage with all you would expect in a home from home. Nearby shop, beach and cafe and great location.Mairi was so helpful, a wonderful host.I'd definitely recommend Pier Cottage and i know i will return.

We had a lovely stay at Pier Cottage. There was plenty of room for all six of us, the place is clearly well loved and well taken care of, and the location was perfect for exploring the NW beaches and hiking trails. Having a washer and dryer helped a lot with wet clothes after a long hiking day. The kitchen is well stocked for cooking for a large family. The hosts were the best part - Mairi was very responsive before and during the stay to answer all of my questions. And Willy helped us get some fresh-off-the boat seafood. Wonderful!

A beautifully designed and styled cottage with a warm and welcoming atmosphere - both spacious and cosy at the same time. Quiet and private position, with restful greenery visible through all the windows. Very comfortable beds, and convenient local shop! We were unfortunate enough to experience some extremely wet and windy weather during our stay, but that was very much alleviated by being able to relax into the deliciously comfortable sofas in the living area! Mairi was a wonderful hostess - very friendly and helpful, and was kind enough to promptly return to our home address some important items which I had inadvertently left behind when we returned home.We are long time visitors to this part of the Scottish Highlands, and Pier Cottage, in the characterful fishing harbour of Kinlochbervie is ideally placed for exploring the spectacular coastline, pristine sandy beaches, and awe-inspiring mountain scenery. Highly recommended.

Outstanding in every way

What a wonderful stay in a beautiful, comfortable bungalow. Everything in the house was of a high standard and it was a splendid base from which we could explore the area on foot or by car. Mairi and Willie were delightful and attentive hosts. We appreciated being able to get super fresh prawns from Willie and having a well stocked shop literally across the road was really helpful. On two evenings we also had three red deer in the garden who departed when the cameras/ phones came out as we watched from the lounge! Comfortable, warm and plenty to do and see, in spite of not being able to get to Handa or Cape Wrath due to ferries being off but did the Sandwood Bay walk- a long wished for destination. Highly recommended .. and thank you

Lovely stay at Pier Cottage

This was a perfect respite for us as we travelled through Scotland for 3 1/2 weeks. We were able to spread out, get laundry done and relax in the mornings! We made breakfast and planned our days. Very well appointed cottage! Smoo cave and Handa Island were must sees!

Superb Cottage as base

Great location to tour Sutherland, we went as far south as Ullapool and North to Bettyhill. Visited too many places to mention but my favourite was Balnakeil Bay, huge beach great for your dogs and easy to access. Lots of amazing scenery, the picnic area by Kinlochbervie beach had two resident stags in the green fenced field. Mairi and Willie great friendly hosts, be sure to order your Lobster, Prawns and Crabs, they were amazing and such good value. Will definitely return.

Our second visit to this delightful cottage . The weather wasn't to bad at all .and we ate outside in the sunshine . We enjoy the friendly atmosphere of Kinlochbervie and we'll be looking to return again next year ..

Perfect

Pier Cottage provides the perfect base from which to explore Kinlochbervie and NW Scotland. The cottage was spacious, comfortable and had everything we needed for a week’s stay. We really enjoyed our time there.

A relaxing week .

We just pottered around KLB and enjoyed the brilliant scenery . It's a friendly place and excellent to relax. The cottage was perfect and had everything we needed . There were sunny days and wet ones but we enjoyed our stay immensely .. We are seriously thinking about rebooking for 2024 ... Thanks for a great week Mairi .... What’s not to like?

The location is perfect, for exploring this part of beautiful Sutherland. The cottage was spotless and welcoming, a really well equipped kitchen with good appliances, and all the rooms were spacious and airy. There was a Spar shop close at hand which was a real bonus . The garden was a welcome oasis of green in this hot weather. The hosts Mairi and Willie were attentive and on hand for any problems ( of which there weren’t ) , they called in, which is always so nice , to check we had all we needed. We were immediately at home here. There is absolutely nothing , ‘ not to like’ we had a great holiday.

Bird watching holiday

Absolutely beautiful location, the accommodation had everything we could want for. Hosts Mairi and Willie greeted us warmly on arrival, supplied us with copious amounts of prawns and venison and were really friendly and helpful. Well stocked shop opposite. Lots to see and do. A very comfy stay

This is a very nice, comfortable, well equipped bungalow with a pretty secure doggie garden. Great location for exploring and only 2 miles from Oldshoremore beach. The owners were really friendly and helpful.

Peaceful holiday

This was a lovely comfortable and clean property. It had all that you required for cooking. The showers were the most powerful we have ever had in a holiday let. One small fault, if your bigger like me the cubicle is quite small and the over bath shower curtain does stick to you but that is not a complaint more an observation, if your skinny no problem! The setting in Kinlochbervie is lovely with mature gardens at the cottage and Loch Closh two minute walk from property. You can see it from garden gate. A five minute walk to the working harbour and the lovely Quay House cafe, well worth a visit. Situated across from a well stocked Spar that sold a large range of food and drink, fresh fruit and veg etc. The cottage is well situated for touring both lower down the west coast to Ullapool and also up towards Tongue. We purchased crab and lobster from our hosts Mairi and Willie who made us very welcome as did any locals we spoke to.

Great base for touring the North West Highlands

Initial impression of the cottage is disappointing as is at the edge of the industrial estate rather than at the Loch/harbour as we expected but very clean and comfortable and only 5 minutes walk to the Loch side -Spar across the road very handy and surprisingly reasonable prices-easy access to beautiful beach at Oldshoremore and great eating options at the Quay for coffee/lunch and the Old Schoolhouse for Dinner and takeaway-would be happy to recommend and return
