I simply loved the property, I was in Lake Charles for my mother's funeral and the staff at the Wingate, made our stay phenomenal, I normally stay at Best Western hotels but after cancelling a reservation because of a mix up in my mother's funeral arrangements, the manager of the Best Western Prien Lake decided to charge me for cancelling our reservation. The Wingate was very clean and the staff was so friendly, made me excited to stay there. The breakfast was outstanding as well. My stays in Lake Charles from here on out will be made at the Wingate. Thank you staff at the Wingate, for an enjoyable stay. We will be back soon.

I was quite disappointed in how much the quality of service and the property itself has gone down since our stay here just a year ago. It's obvious that management is skimping by with as little as possible to keep this place running. It appears the cleaning staff are doing the best they can with what they have if you can ignore the vaping on the job while cleaning aspect. The carpets were clean and the room smelled good, but the "clean" towel in our room had a nasty green stain in various places. Also, the rooms apparently no longer come stocked with actual hand soap (liquid or a bar). Upon arrival, I noticed this, so I visited the front desk to get some, and she told me that the hotel no longer provides soap. Ummm what??? That's a pretty basic necessity,don't you think? I believe hand soap ranks over body lotion. Finally, there were various vagrant people walking around throughout the hotel, which filled me with unease and a lack of safety. I won't be returning to this location nor will I recommend it.

The staff were very helpful, and the breakfast was better than most. I was hoping to have a sofa in the room as the picture online suggested but instead we had an armless chair, nothing more. Not very comfortable. Also, there was no soap in the bathroom when we arrived. The staff responded very quickly to bring soap, but it was watered down. Hardly made any lather. The bed was very comfortable and despite being right next to Loop 210, the room was quiet.

Great Stay!

My first impression: We walked in and the Lobby and Eating area sparkled. The staff was very friendly and helpful. Our room was clean and very comfortable. The fridge, coffee maker and other amenities were perfect. Breakfast was fantastic - plenty to choose from and plenty to eat.

Rooms need updating. Bathroom had black mold around the faucets, streaks on wall, general cosmetic issues. They also put us in an accessible room. If it had not been so late and we were so tired, we would have had her change it. Why would you put us in one when it we didn’t request it
