After you have thoroughly explored Lake Hawea, why not tour a little further afield? The Otago area has many other things to offer tourists. Otago is blessed with beaches, coastal plains and forests. Commonly visited Otago tourist draws are the castles. In this region of New Zealand, tourists can try their hand at snowboarding and skiing.
Wanaka is 11 kilometres to the southwest of Lake Hawea and is where you'll find the Lake Wanaka, Rippon Vineyard and New Zealand Fighter Pilots Museum.
