This 3,700 sqft open floor plan home will leave you awe struck the minute you enter with it's rustic pirate themed decor and unique touches throughout the home.
This home was constructed using old growth timber from the Fort Bragg bridges and the Potter Valley Lumber Mill with over 1,300 lineal feet of large timber mixed with patina sheet metal and 36 feet high ceilings. It features an arched bridge spanning over 20 feet across open air space to access the master bedroom. The home is sitting on a 7.5 acre land overlooking the Kelseyville valley. The home also offers a 40,000 gallons deep water swimming pool, hot tub, gas fire pit and a large bar.

The Space
A private road will lead you up the hill to the of this one of a kind Barn structure, we call it The Shack on the Hill. As you walk in through the double entry doors, be ready to be wowed! The main floor has open floor plan with high ceilings, 2 seating areas, fully functional kitchen, large dining area and a bar. Once you come up the stairs, the second floor has 2 bridges - one connecting to the master bedroom and one connecting to the loft area. It has 3 spacious bedrooms, a loft and a laundry room.

A Property that Needs to be Experienced

This is amazing property that offers a one-of-a-kind experience. Every time I had a opportunity to sit down and look, there was something new. This property is an absolute delight. The décor is something else, with an elephant in the great room and pirates greeting you in the loft and hanging from the ceiling. The house has a rustic atmosphere, but the amenities are modern, including three large screen TVs and Alexa managing the music. The kids spent most of their time in the pool, hot tub or the game room (which has a pool table, foosball and table tennis). We managed to learn some history of the property, which was really interesting. I wish there had been something at the house that provided a complete story of the property, I’m sure it would be appreciated by all. Our host was incredibly responsive, which added to the enjoyment of our stay.

Pirate Paradise

Three generations enjoyed a wonderful girls getaway at the Shack on the Hill. This large house is full of delightful surprises and the pool and gardens are perfect for relaxing together. Wayne and Nina made us feel welcome and took care of all our needs. We will be back.

This could easily be a movie set or place at Disneyland. And it’s located where views of the area are pretty relaxing 😎 Great Thanksgiving time away

The area is nice and beautiful. The views are amazing and the house is wonderful. The pool was extremely cold which made it difficult to swim. Also, some of the burners on the stove were not functioning making cooking inside a bit tricky. Overall, a very nice place that I would consider stayig at again.

Incredible property!

Hands down one of the coolest and unique properties you will ever encounter. Many cool features and the flow of the home is very well thought out. Here’s our experience: First stepping in the house, you’ll feel how much space there actually is. The floors are well maintained, clean and warm and the home smells pretty great! The sound system works for indoor and outdoors The kitchen is large with a reverse osmosis water drinking system. Plenty of pots, pans and dishware. Plenty of prep space for food. The stove top knobs are a bit difficult to turn, but once you figure them out they’re fairly easy to work with. there’s alot of space in the living room and bar. The outdoor space is incredible with a gas fire place that we utililized at nighttime. Hot tub is great! Unfortunately, pool isn’t heated but wouldn’t be a problem during summer heat. The outlook area is a great place to spend some quiet time. Upstairs bedrooms are great! All beds are comfy and clean. There are extra beds in 2 of the bedrooms that are not shown in the pics. Really unique features upstairs with some pirates hanging around. Overall, this is an incredible space with well thought out aesthetics and flow. Communication with owners are easy. Don’t pass up on this property!

Unique Property Worth A Stay

Overall we had an excellent stay. The house is eclectic in a great way. From the jukebox to the football table to the pirate hanging from the ceiling. Had some minor needs along the way. Wayne was super attentive and helpful filling those needs. absolutely would stay again.

Loved this property. We had three families and our trip was really amazing. The house is well equipped with everything and the pictures probably don't do justice to the stay experience. Absolutely fantastic!

Was hoping for a little getaway after thanksgiving and what a pleasant surprise. For once the place is better than the photos. Everything is so clean. So well maintained. The property is gorgeous! Already talking about coming back. So much fun. The host was so accommodating. Wayne gave us a great tour and we felt at home. Great town. Went to the Dickens festival and hung out with the locals. Love this place!!!

We stayed for an anniversary trip and everything was sooooo perfect. The house is very neat. Always something to look at or do. Very very well stocked. I would recommend bringing a good fan if you stay in the summer. It gets pretty warm. Me and my friends can't wait to stay again in the future

Funnest house we have ever seen!

This property is likely going to the most interesting house we will ever stay in, in our entire lives! The decor is so fun! The property location is perfect, atop a hill but also very close to local amenities (grocery store, take-out options, downtown, the Lake). The children loved exploring the house and even more loved the pool. The view was amazing! There is no doubt that this house has (and will continue) provide many families with great memories.

Family Birthday Celebration

The Shack on the Hill was much more impressive in person than online. The moment we got to the property we were in awe! At least every half hour someone would comment about how cool it was. It's so unique and fun! It has a great flow to the floor plan too so it makes it easy to socialize. We had a blast and can't wait to go back! Wayne was amazing too in explaining all the amenities for us.

We had the best time staying at the Shack. There is so many tiny details that you could see something new each day. The views are amazing and you can’t beat that fireplace. The master bed is super comfy and our family really had a great time!

The owner of this house “Shack On The Hill” must have a superb taste on putting things together which combined with location,theme,and fantasy dreams.Three nights staying at Shack has passed by so fast I wish I could stay even longer since my niece and nephew enjoyed everything around them;swinging ropes,swinging pool,and the hot tub.And most of all the owner and the caretaker Brad and Wayne are so nice and very helpful and easy to reach..We will be back again soon.

More like WONDERLAND Shack on the Hill!!

I wish I had the time to type out the novel length review this vacation home deserves! We took our family of 10 here for Labor Day weekend with the intent to spend most of the time at Clear Lake, but the amenities were so amazing at Shack on the Hill that we opted not to leave this private resort! Or as our kids would call it “Pirate Resort”! We couldn’t have found a more exciting and accommodating vacation home to have our family weekend getaway! From the huge beautiful resort style pool, to the breathtaking views, to the pirate fun house for the kids (and adults!), to our own private party stage and bar with disco ball, to the finishing touch of a rope swing, I really can’t think of one single thing I could add to this perfect vacation spot…other than maybe a pirate ship somewhere on the private acreage! And on top of ALL that…the owner, Brad, and property manager, Wayne, couldn’t have given us a warmer welcome! Thank you so much for the opportunity to stay at your AMAZING vacation home Brad!! We had a truly wonderful stay and we will count the days for our next booking! We also decided that as cool as the name “Shack on the Hill” is, this name does not do it justice! Exactly what we needed

The pictures really don't do it justice - a big interior space, full of adventurous decor (pirates! elephant!), a great kitchen, a fantastic bar lounge. Outside, there was almost never a moment when someone wasn't in the pool or hot tubs. Lots of outdoor seating, fire pits, grills and a griddle. We had a stellar time, and hope to return again and again.
