Positives: We initially booked a flight and accommodation package through Wotif but upgraded the second half of our 8 day stay to the water chalet. Both areas were beautiful and unique, but the water chalet was truely sublime. Too bad you can't jump into the sea from your room. Or any of the water chalets for that matter. Staff were excellent, always courteous and very friendly. Free shuttle was fantastic and prompt. Drivers were safe and skilled. Negatives: Need to pay extra for all other hire activities that should be free given the expense of the room: canoe, body board, pool toys, pool table, table soccer, fishing rod. Not resort related, but also be aware when you book tours, you need to pay for additional activities (canoe, life jackets, snorkels, toilet, everything else that isn't the tour). Eg: if you booked a snorkeling tour this won't include lifejacket hire for swimming, snorkels, beach lounge/shade, etc. It was explained differently to us but when you check in, you will need to pay additional tax per day of stay, but also a RM700 deposit. Money isn't taken out at this point but it's used as a room tab. The final amount will be deducted from your credit card at the end of your stay plus any owing. Refunds of unused deposit may take up to 1 month - which is strange as the money isn't taken out initially. All in all a restorative and luxurious island vacation. Great for couples and families.

The chalet was amazing, the staff and srvices were second to none and the resort in general is a fantastic time. The restuarants on the resort are top class and the spa facilities are a must-use. I cannot recommend Berjaya Resort anymore, you simply must stay here if you are visiting Langkawi

I enjoyed staying at this hotel however it is not operating at a five star standard. The WiFi is exceptionally poor, parts of the public areas look tired and need refurbishment, the standard of food in the restaurants is generally not good (certainly not the standard I would expect of a five star hotel) and the rooms are not five star standard (the beds are very hard and the pillows very uncomfortable). The staff were friendly and helpful, however they would not allow us a late checkout even though we were not flying until the evening. I understand the room may be required back for cleaning, however, in my experience, a good hotel will provide facilities / another room to guests to change and shower in when checking out late.

Fantastic room. Staff were very efficient and friendly. The Pan Thai restaurant is a must go. The food and setting are both amazing. The one criticism would be the eco policies. Can’t remember seeing any solar panels. Water was in plastic bottles. A lot of resorts provide refill stations. Most guests carry water bottles nowadays. If they don’t you could sell a resort branded one at a fair price. And why once the pools are closed do you still waste energy aerating them and lighting all of them. Love the wildlife in the resort. Recommend the nature walk early on so you are aware of where to look for the local animals. But a great resort and I would like to think will be back .

Nice resort with a private beach and chalets on the water. Good variety of services and restaurants and food. People are very polite and soft spoken and happy to help in any way they can. The instructions can be confusing sometimes due to language differences and the staff being soft spoken. We found that to be true in other dealings outside the hotel as well.

Location was brilliant in amongst the forest, lovely beach and pool.The food was excellent and the staff were very friendly and helpful.We had breakfast included,which was phenomenal so much choice in a lovely setting with fans running to keep us cool .The hotel has a lovely vibe and our chalet in the forest was lovely.They even provided a shuttle golf buggy,to and from your room if you wanted it which was very easily accessed.There was a free afternoon tea provided from 3-5 pm every day.

For a 5-star hotel, we had expected much better communication and facilities. We had booked a premium sea view chalet but to get to the chalet, we had to go down a flight of stairs and then go up a flight of stairs which was extremely difficult for my parents both of whom are senior citizens. We were not notified of this earlier. For such warm weather, the AC and fans at the lobby, Dayang cafe, etc, are really poor offering no comfort at all. There was a real lack of communication among the staff regarding our late checkout and we had to explain the same things multiple times to different people. We had a nightly dinner allowance of RM150 per adult but we were told by the reception staff that this was only RM150 per room. We were 4 people in 2 rooms and so, the allowance should've been RM600 per night and not RM300 per night. There are no cash withdrawal or washer/dryer facilities that was disappointing for a 5-star hotel that is so close to the beach.

The hotel being based in the tropical environment whilst also being on the beach was incredible, and the wildlife was a real experience to be around. The staff were super friendly and helpful and drop you off around the resort on the shuttle buggy’s which is helpful where it is quite hilly! The rooms and general hotel are tired so wouldn’t say this standard would be a 5 star and does need a wide scale refurbishment. Walking distance to sky cable which is a must do experience there and the breakfast was incredible!

Overall the resort met all our needs.Chalets were private,well fitted out and private .The choices for dining were excellent and extensive.Overall I would recommend the resort to anyone.

Relaxing resort away from hustle and bustle

Gorgeous setting in the forest, big spacious pool, clean beach and amazingly friendly staff. Location walking distance to oriental village - perfect place for a relaxing holiday if you don’t want to leave the resort.

Amazing! Beautiful, quiet, lots of places to eat and the friendliest staff I’ve ever met. The wildlife is beautiful and well cared for, not exploited or captive at all. Greta place for animal lovers and those looking for a relaxing get away.
