It’s located at the Premium Lauwersoog Holiday Park, right on the Lauwersmeer, on the North Sea between Groningen and Friesland on the Wadden Sea.
This area is home to one of the largest bird sanctuaries, characterised by a varied landscape.
Many nearby forests and trails are perfect for hiking or biking.
The holiday park and the Lauwersmeer offer water sports enthusiasts and boat lovers their own marina and feature a wide range of outdoor activities. The North Sea (Wadden Sea) is right nearby, featuring a fishing harbour and the island of Schiermonnikoog.

exciting and varied.
We’ve put together a few tips for you.
1. Day trip to Schiermonnikoog
Schiermonnikoog is one of the five West Frisian Islands.
With an area of 16 x 4 km and just under 1,000 residents, it is the smallest of the Dutch Wadden Islands.
The beach, up to 1 km wide, is one of the widest in Europe.
2. Trip to Groningen or Leeuwarden
Groningen, just under 40 km away, is the capital of the province of the same name and offers a beautiful old town along with all the amenities of a major city.
Leeuwarden, just under 43 km away, was the 2018 European Capital of Culture and awaits your visit with its narrow streets and small canals
3. Mudflat hike
The Wadden Sea, an UNESCO World Natural Heritage Site, offers not only unique natural beauty but also
mudflat hikes.
4. Lauwersmeer National Park
The Lauwersmeer National Park covers 9,000 hectares and is home to unique flora and fauna.
In addition to hiking and biking, water sports such as sailing, canoeing, and surfing are also available.
5. Aquazoo Leeuwarden
Polar bears, tigers, crocodiles—just 1 km from Leeuwarden, one of the most beautiful zoos in the
Netherlands awaits you.
6. Pieterburen Seal Centre
World-renowned seal breeding station in Pieterburen, approximately 25 km from Lauwersoog.
7. Fresh fish straight from the boat
Lauwersoog is a major fishing port. Right on the harbour, there are several restaurants that prepare the freshest catches.
8. Sailing
The Wadden Sea and Lauwersmeer are among the most beautiful sailing areas in Europe.
