The staff was so nice and so helpful. I didn't mind the construction at all. But our room smelled like mildew, pretty bad and there was no fan in the room to help. There was a blood splatter above the tv up to the ceiling and the bathroom had someone else's hair left in the cubby. I really like the staff, the location was fine, but I wouldn't go back

Let me preface this review by saying I have stayed at 3 other Hampton Inns in the last 3 months….all were wonderful, hence my choice of booking for Hampton Inn in Layton. Unbeknownst, and undisclosed, to me at the time of booking (whether it be Hamptons fault or Expedias) , this Hampton was under renovation. The place was a mess. The floor I stayed on was a unfinished Reno zone full of drywall paste and debris all over the carpets. My shower had a large stain/burn(?) in the floor pan and the toilet was dirty. The breakfast (which was supposed to be a warm breakfast, that I have come to appreciate at Hampton Inn’s) consisted of a bagel (with one toaster for the whole hotel), dark green bananas, and a small muffin…..all served on the hotel lobbies check-in counter…the coffee was good. I had a choice to stay at numerous hotels in the Salt Lake City area, and chose to stay at Hampton Inn based on previous experiences…..this Hampton in Layton was a complete disappointment.

The staff was fabulous. The room was clean. This hotel is under construction. No hot breakfast, only cold stuff provided. Lots of construction material in the hall ways. I usually stay in Hampton Inns if possible. I would have liked to have known the state of the hotel prior to booking.

Everything was pretty good except they were doing construction on their breakfast area, so there was no hot continental breakfast available. They had a full booking too, filled with gymnastics competitors, drill team competitors, and army guests. A decent breakfast to fuel all of the competitors bodies was much needed.

Check in was easy, the room was clean, the biggest disappointment was they didn’t have a hot breakfast due to construction and we were not informed ahead of time. I likely would have booked somewhere else as we were traveling for sports and my child needed a hot breakfast so we were forced to go out to eat.

I booked thru Expedia but was not informed that the the Layton Hampton inn was under remodel and did not have any of the amenities that would make a stay over the Christmas holiday with family a pleasant experience!! I stayed one night then had to cancel my reservation to find a suitable place for my family !!! It was very disappointing as I had family flying in !! I would like a refund less the one night I stayed !! Plus it was 30.00 a night more than the Hampton inn Farmington where I found a couple rooms available!!

There was no indication of renovations at this hotel in their profile. Our room was filthy, and one of the queen beds was broken when we first entered the room. Not to mention a 2x4 keeping the window closed....classy. We were transferred to another room that was adequate, but there was no breakfast. Old muffins and wrapped up fruit is not what Ive come to expect from a Hampton Inn. Had the hotel been transparent about these things, we just would have booked somewhere else.
