We recommend the Gin Hotel which is a vintage hotel with modern - style rooms, with an on- site restaurant (Juniper), in a great location on Main Street, in Lexington, VA. It is walking distance to many restaurants, coffee shops, Just Games game shop, outdoor apparel and camping store Walkabout Outfitter, VMI and Washington and Lee colleges, and so much more.
The Gin hotel staff Lindsey and Makayla were friendly, helpful, attentive, and competent.
The 5th level story, corner- suites of the Gin offer terrific views of the snowy mountains and shops on Main Street. We stayed in a two - queen bed room for our first two nights and then upgraded to the corner 5th level story suite for our last night. The rooms have a light and airy feel to them. The layout of both is unique. The beds were very comfortable, had great pillows and down comforters which conform to your sleeping position. The King suite has a very large jacuzzi in the bathroom, along with a very modern -style shower, which we loved. There was hot water in abundance! The suite also had a table and 2 chairs, as well as a lounger type comfortable chair which I sat in in front of the window and enjoyed the terrific snow - topped mountain view from.
The Gin offers complimentary parking directly behind the hotel.
A downfall to the Gin is that there are no mini fridges / microwaves, and breakfast is very limited, but that's ok, because Pronto Caffe (coffee pastry shop) is next door.
