Wonderful and relaxing!
A thoroughly beautiful lodge. Very clean. The hot tub was lovely and great that it was set up and ready for our arrival. A tranquil place with plenty to do. We enjoyed our stay and would come back again.

Lovely, comfortable stay
The lodge was very clean and comfortable however the hot tub was quite dirty on the day we arrived, it had lots of cut grass grass in it and lots of bugs which we didn't expect when we first opened the lid to use it and didn't get cleaned while we were there. This was a minor thing however it did say that the hot tub was checked daily and cleaned.
Other than that it was a gorgeous little break away with lovely walks to have with our dog around the lake and the cafe was lovely with fresh cooked food and a friendly welcoming atmosphere, best of all we could take our dog there with us as well.

Bad stay
Had to be moved lodges as there was no hot water offer to move us but also offer to keep us in the same lodge with no hot water all weekend , we then moved lodges and when we got there the hot tub was absolutely freezing with no heat what so ever in it the lodge was dirty in some areas . All in all I wasn’t best pleased and won’t be returning or recommending!

Lovely stay, but some penny pinching which was disappointing
Firstly, as a positive, the lodge was very clean and tidy and the double parking spaces great for the 8 of us on our booking.
As it was a special (and expensive) family occasion, we had specifically asked for the lodge to be decorated for Christmas ….apart from the wreath on the front door the only other decoration was a very threadbare tree, which had no lights on, and only a few baubles which only went half way down the tree. It was so awful it was almost funny (but not when you saw lots of other lodges with beautiful Christmas decorations and trees all lit up). We definitely had tree envy when we saw the effort other lodges had gone to!
We were also really surprised not to receive anything as a welcome pack - not even a pint of milk or a biscuit! In other lodges in Roadford we have had wine, biscuits/ chocolate left for us ( throughout the year) not just Christmas. We have stayed in at least 8/ 9 times and violet lodge is the 1st one without any kind welcome pack which seemed very penny pinching.
The only other thing is there was no steamer, or enough roasting dishes for the Christmas dinner, which considering the lodge is for 8 people and booked for a Christmas break, was disappointing
