this hotel now charge a £50 incidentals deposit on check-in, the only DoubleTree that it seems compulsory to pay this. We had stayed here before and it was excellent, this time wasn't that good, our room felt really dark. The fridge had gone missing aswell? Its also in a inconvenient area when travelling into London, areas around the hotel aren't the best
The staff here are wonderful!! Every person we spoke to was friendly & helpful. The food was great and my children particularly enjoyed the complimentary cookies. Great location for Excel.
Dreadful stay, will book the aloft next time! Stayed here due the last two years and this way my third visit staying 3 nights. Booked a room with sofa bed and higher up floor but got a small room on level 1, looking at the entrance and no sofa bed. The bed was uncomfortable, the air unit noisy and windows broken so not opening.
I was attending a conference at the Excel centre which is in the urban wasteland east of Canary Wharf.
Dorm like rooms where the owners recognise that most people stay there because they want to be close to the conference centre.

I would absolutely avoid this hotel unless you had no other choice. The staff welcome was the biggest let down. The parking is definitely an issue. The company rips you off at exit and the hotel hide behind that fact. Room is comfortable but the rest does ruins the experience. You definitely get treated like a captured audience and it’s a take it or leave it attitude due to the vicinity of the excel.
Hotel was great, good location. No details about parking on Expedia site, parked in the nearby ExCel centre. We would have parked at the Hilton if we knew. Walk along the dock wasn’t allowed due to construction work. Notification about this was lacking added hassle to our journey to the O2. Room was really nice and hotel was super clean, neat and tidy so overall we were very happy with our stay!
