I think your experience here depends on your room. I was leery reading the negative reviews, but the standard double room we booked was perfectly clean. It was in the basement, but not the sub-basement, and had a skylight. The bathroom was clean and serviceable but very tiny and not for larger people. The location was walkable to Kings Cross, the British Museum and British Library. If you just need a place in and out of Kings Cross for a night it isn't a bad choice, but watch the pricing on different booking sites - we paid way too much for what it was.
