Perfect location as I was attending an event at St James’ Church which is directly across the road. The hotel looks like it was once a grand place, but the room was very tired. The furniture was scuffed and the bathroom was very old. There were also building works happening directly outside my window. This didn’t affect me as I was only there one night but I would have asked to move if I was staying longer. A warning about this would have been nice. Also, there was a strange incident where housekeeping knocked on my door at 11pm to give me more water but I hadn’t ordered any. I checked with reception and was told that housekeeping had attended the wrong room. Mistakes happen, and that’s fine, but obviously for a woman travelling alone, this was concerning. I would stay again because the staff were lovely and the location was great. The gym was also excellent! It could just do with some updating.

Rooms are a little dated and have had a very superficial makeover. Bathroom really needs a good going over and did look a bit shabby. It was all really clean though. Staff are lovely, and location is perfect

Friendly hotel

Lovely hotel with friendly staff. We were allocated a room as soon as we arrived even though we were a couple of hours early. Only disappointment was the terrace was closed for refurbishment.

Check-in receptionist wasn't very friendly. The public areas were lovely, however the room was extremely disappointing. Plug sockets not secure, decor needs updating and toilet seat doesn't stay up (for men this is quite tricky!) Definitely not worth the cost. I feel you pay for the location. Overall - very disappointed
