Disappointed with the hotel.

Initially nobody was answering the doorbell. We did arrive slightly earlier than scheduled but it would have been nice to have somebody or something to inform us what we could do. We were then welcomed by a young man who wasn’t really suitable for front of house as the interaction was very minimal. We received a card for our door and a few instructions and off we went to our room. The room itself was clean and tidy but so small. Sold as a double deluxe en-suite is a huge exaggeration. It was absolutely tiny, ok so it’s London, but our stay in NYC offered a larger room with a warning about size. The en-suite bathroom was clean and the shower high enough for someone 6’3”, but the water temperature was not hot at all. The TV didn’t work as it had no signal so we had to entertain ourselves with phones etc. Facilities in the room were of a decent standard, although for such a small room, I’m not sure why it requires such a big phone on the side. Ironing board, iron and hair dryer all came in handy but all in all, the hotel for the price was disappointing. The view from 510 wasn’t good sadly, just roofs and back gardens.

The only problem we found was the air con as we couldn’t find how to turn it off.So hence by morning it was absolutely freezing.But we weren’t there the next night as we only stayed one night but having spoken to the receptionist chap the morning we left he explained how to turn it off so if I was to stay there again which I might do next year it wouldn’t be a problem as overall I enjoyed the stay.

The room was very small and in the basement. Couldn't get the TV to work. Had to wait for someone to come to check us in. Most of the staff spoke very limited English.

When we checked in only one of the two keys worked. This was not good as we needed them to reenter the property. We asked to get them rekeyed, but didn't didn't work. We stayed for 8 days and never saw a cleaning person..we ran out of clean towels and toilet paper (we had to buy our own). My husband ran down when he happened to see someone in the reception room and asked for towels.. they didn't have any clean bath towels and only gave him hand towels. Only one of the three windows to the room locked. There was long black hair throughout the room on the floors. The sink didn't drain right and there was no where to hang the towels. The door to the hall sticks badly (a real hazard if there were to be a fire) I wouldn't recommend staying here.

After seeing some of the reviews i wasnt expecting much especially as there were 3 adults and a child in one room. The room wasnt big but there was enough space for us to move around and as we were only in it at night to sleep it wasnt a problem. The room and bathroom were clean and had air condition, a telly, coffee machine, kettle and bottles of water and the beds were comfy enough. The staff were nice and helpful and for the price and being so close to hyde park, transportation, food places and shops it was perfect for us

Spent a few nights at the J Hyde Park- double and twin rooms. Overall 4/5. PROS-well appointed rooms, air conditioned, smart tv, comfortable beds, clean bathrooms and great location to both Bayswater and Queensway tube stations, many shops and restaurants and easy walk to Hyde Park and Kensington Gardens. CONS- 24/7 front desk is NOT accurate. It took up to 40 mins at a time for anyone to attend the desk and often only after pressing the ring doorbell consistently. The morning desk staff was also difficult to communicate with due to language barriers. There is no common space to sit and the absence of a lift makes it difficult to take large suitcases up the staircase (61 steps in our case) and would not be possible for those with mobility issues. I would stay here again because the pros outweighed the cons.

Front desk is not 24hours. Theres only 1 front desk agent working at a time. So if they step away from desk when you are checking in, you have to wait until they come back (which means waiting outside. There are no elevators so you have to walk up a lot of stairs to go up to your rooms. Staff doesnt even offer to help carry your luggage. The doors to thebrooms have considerable space beneath them, so when going to sleep, a lot of light from the hallways leaks into your room. If you are a solo traveler who needs a cheap room, its decent, but I wont be staying here again.
