Very good staff and food. “Delux” room was smaller than picture. But very comfortable. Big tv too. Glad I didn’t pay for a garden view as it is actually a public garden. Although beautiful, very noisey with drunk teenagers on a Saturday night.

The location is perfect but the hotel is very rundown and shabby. The terrace and inside bar service was slow and inept, waited forever to be seated for breakfast buffet, coffee machines frequently not working, buffet foods not refilled, 1 or 2 of the 3 elevators not working at all times, tears in drapery and bedskirt, I could go on forever……Manager took off a considerable amount after I complained. Definitely not a 5 star hotel.

The terrace which features rather loud piped music isn’t really a place to relax. Notwithstanding, I was denied access to the terrace as I didn’t have a reservation and the bar was closed. A member of staff told me that the hotel only opened either the terrace or the bar but not both. The elevators go up and down between floors making any journey a long and tortuous process. Not great for a hotel that purports to be 5*. Think I’ll stay somewhere else next time.

Grand Old Beauty needs some love

We love the old world charm of Royal Horseguards, thats why we returned, but it is looking a tad tired in the rooms - Broken shower fitting, scratches on furniture, torn curtains, which for the price isnt great - not lets speak about the window frames.

It was old fashioned, small lifts, only 2 working, it took more than 10mins to get the lift. It was expensive. My friend was in room 521 which was disgusting and should not be used until it has been refurbed. There were 92 Silversea passengers staying there with lots of luggage. No sleep as all I could hear were trains running. Very lovely staff, especially the young concierge and doorman. This hotel is not for me.
