Charleson farm is magical! The hosts were Fantastic- super responsive and great communication before and during our stay. The house was beautifully presented and the property was so much fun to explore. Having the ponies just outside the window (they checked first with us if this was ok or we wanted them in the paddock) was so much fun for everyone. We loved the cows, goats and ponies and spotting the kangaroos too. The teens/ young adults loved a dip in the pool each night as the sun was setting. And the indoor fire was wonderful as the day was very chilly. We will certainly be booking in again to stay here.

Along with our 2 daughters, partners, 4 children and 4 dogs, we were joined by our son and grandson from California for a 5-day retreat.Always important to us was, and is, the wish/need to provide as much opportunity for contact-time between siblings and cousins …a family separated by the Pacific Ocean for 15 years. (Emails, Messages, and Messenger Calls are fine, but don’t cut the mustard!) The attention to detail at Charleson is remarkable and the owners need to be commended for it. There was never a kitchen gadget missing, knives were sharp, complementary coffee pods, herbs and spices were much appreciated, as was the delightful local sparkling Riesling etc. (Chilli tomato sauce yet to be savoured.) Too many to mention …the games cupboard, wet weather closet, snakebite/bushfire preparation, books and magazines. The leather-bound introductory folder was so comprehensive, educational (-re snake bites), and enjoyable (learning goats and ponies names and personalities). Except for mealtimes, the young ones happily occupied the games room pretty much all the time. Special attention must be made of the pool which young and adventurous set their clocks for 6.00am to watch stars slowly make way for glorious sunrises (and also sunsets) …and for the hardy ones at other times during the day …despite the rain! Our fire-pit night was another good opportunity for star gazing as we dodged occasional swirls of smoke.Strongly recommended for your next get-away.

Perfect location for a family get together. The house was beyond our expectations with ample room for 14 people. Perfect Weekend
Had a great stay at the farm! Communication with hosts was clear and we were provided with lots of info and ideas on what to do during our stay. Initially it states that the house is a 13 minute walk from lorne.. it was actually about a 40minute drive from lorne but had a great stay regardless of this. Really loved going up and visiting the goats and ponies as well! Thanks John and Maria

A great rural retreat
We had an amazing 7 nights at the farm, the views over the valley were stunning, it was so peaceful, remote, quiet with stunning sun sets & sunrises. The heated small plunge pool was a hit as was the indoor & outdoor fire places. Sitting on the deck listening to nature & the sounds of cows & local birds was delightful as was seeing kangaroo's most days passing over the fields. They also privided all the kitchen pantry items yiu needed & we have booked the place again next year. Thanks John & Maria

Beautiful house in stunning setting. Clean and thoughtful touches from hosts. However, this house is around 40 minutes outside of Lorne, and the location map on website does not match the actual location. Despite this we had a wonderful stay and would recommend!

Relaxing getaway
Our stay at Charleson Farm did not disappoint. It was the ideal getaway with my 2 adult children and their families, along with my niece and her family who are visiting from England. After 2 weeks of rushing around the State sightseeing, we spent 2 wonderful nights relaxing at this amazing house enjoying the peace and quiet along with the local wildlife and vistas. The children (aged 11, 9, 7 & 6) loved the tree house, time in the plunge pool and all of the activities in the games room as well as kicking the football and shooting hoops with the balls provided in the cupboard. The firepit was also a great place to relax around in the evenings. A big thanks to hosts John & Maria who were in contact prior to our stay with all the necessary info. We all look forward to going back again soon.

We had a party of 12, an extended family spending a weekend here. The setting is gorgeous and so restful. The property has very comprehensive facilities, everything from toys for toddlers, a table football game, table tennis, an outside plunge pool, modern large smart TVs and Netflix streaming, good internet. excellently outfitted dining facilities and a very large BBQ, many ways to make coffee, two fridges, two washing machines, books, board games - The list goes on. There are two bathrooms, the beds are very comfortable and the outlook of the bedrooms is over beautiful countryside. Very responsive owners. Highly recommended.

Fully equipped house, amazing views
Had a great stay with our family (kids 9, 7 and 3). The house had everything we needed to cook and cater for groups that dropped by for lunch and dinner. Great BBQ, pool was awesome and a real highlight. Living area was really spacious and lots of glass to soak in the views. Fun exploring the property with the animals and tree house. Games room was a bit too. Exactly the experience I was hoping for to share with the family - remote enough to be peaceful, close enough to the Surfcoast and towns for day trips and supplies. Thanks John and Maria
