If you favour the unique charm of hyper local, locally owned and operated accommodations over generic ones catering to mass tourism, you will be enchanted by Le Foglie di Acanto. Staying there is to experience the rare pleasure of falling back in time into another epoch, unencumbered by the strains of modern life. This is a unique palazzo brimming with soul and lovingly restored by a local family over two decades with a view towards preservation. Everywhere you look you will be rewarded with thoughtful vignettes of artfully curated objects and exquisite, locally-made textiles, all inviting quiet contemplation. The verdant interior courtyard where breakfast is served under the shade of a pomegranate tree is a quiet sanctuary where one could easily while away hours. The rooms are beguilingly, impeccably clean, the hosts are delightful; and you’d do well to heed their restaurant and gelato recommendations. There’s robust wifi in the rooms, but if not for that, you’d not be mistaken for falling under the delusion that you’d entered another era the moment you step through the doors of this enchanting property.

Per quattro giorni questo B&B, in pieno centro storico, è stato un po’ la nostra oasi fresca e silenziosa in cui tornare dalle assolate uscite mattutine alla scoperta della città e di due non lontani paesi dauni. Un luogo unico, in cui si respira un’atmosfera di elegante e discreta raffinatezza, di arte e di cultura; in cui siamo stati accolti come meglio non avremmo saputo augurarci, da persone uniche, di rara e preziosa sensibilità, quali sono stati per noi Antonio e i suoi genitori. Un luogo ricco di storia e di storie, dove anche un melograno ne ha una propria da raccontare, a chi tranquillo abbia voglia di ascoltarla all’ombra della sua salutare e rigogliosa chioma in fiore.

The host, Señor Guido, was polite and helpful. His breakfast served in his historical garden was rich and healthy. The house from media 18 century contained spacy rooms in old fashion style. We felt comfortable and slept extremely well in the big double bed. Parking was free and easy. Next time in Lusera will be in señor Guido’ house.
