About this property

The Lotus Room

The Lotus Room sits upstairs, where the breeze tends to arrive first and leave last, carrying bits of ocean air with it. It’s an easy place to land. A queen bed, air conditioning for the warmer nights, and a ceiling fan that does a decent job of arguing with the heat. Lights and outlets are right where you’d hope they’d be. There’s a small desk if duty calls, but most people end up outside instead. The balcony has its own rhythm. A fold-up bar for slow drinks, a hammock that encourages poor time management, and a clothesline for whatever the sea and sun leave behind. Inside, there’s under-bed storage and a lockbox to keep things simple and out of the way. The bathroom is open-air, with sky above and the occasional leaf or breeze drifting through.

Downstairs, there’s a shared kitchen, dining area, playground, halfpipe and lounge for meals, coffee, or doing very little. Or you can wander across to Pradeepa’s place. She started out here as a housekeeper and now runs Sunshine Café just opposite. She cooks Sri Lankan food the way she always has. No performance, just real meals made daily. You can eat downstairs, up on the rooftop, or back on your balcony. Breakfast, lunch, and dinner are easy to arrange. If you’re curious, she also runs cooking classes where you can get your hands involved.

The rest of the space is open to you. There’s a yoga shala, a small gym, and a massage area if you feel like slowing things down. In the garden, a concrete halfpipe hums with the occasional session, alongside a plunge pool and an outdoor shower for cooling off. The skatepark is shared with local riders, and boards are around to use. If you’re pulled toward the ocean, surfboards can be sorted, and the break is just a short walk away. Up top, the rooftop lounge catches the last light of the day. Good for juice, a quiet beer, or conversations that stretch longer than planned.

There’s private parking on site if you’re traveling with your own wheels.
