The Cranach hostel is located in the former home of the painter family Cranach, in the middle of the old town Wittenberg. Here lived and worked the famous artist and close friend of Martin Luther in the 16th century. Century as a painter, pharmacist, innkeeper and mayor. In this tradition, the Cranach Foundation operates its hostel for the financial support of the painting school with its art education offer for children, adolescents and adults.   In this creative environment of the painting school, printing workshop, ateliers and paradise garden, the Cranach hostel offers its guests a unique overnight stay experience. The corner house on the market and its quiet courtyard with Röhrwasserbrunnen still announce the wealth of the Cranach family. Over the Renaissance Wendelstein, you will reach 26 elaborately restored and individually furnished rooms on three floors with a wonderful view of the historic market square or the idyllic courtyard. The guest rooms are equipped with modern furniture in a simple design, made in a local carpentry workshop. Colored lamps and antique furniture give each room its very own accent. TV sets are not available.   The large house with its spacious corridors invites its guests to stroll and discover. Many details tell of the different design and use of the house over the centuries. Due to the historical structure, the hostel does not offer an elevator and, as in Cranach's time, it is best to explore on foot on foot.   Enjoy the unique atmosphere of the old town of Wittenberg and be welcome in the home of the Cranach family. Please note that due to the preservation order, the building has steep stairs and there is no lift.
