Summary: HVAC/ventilation 1 star, the room and some staff interactions ~3 star. Restaurant/bar staff, the outdoor areas, and the Nile-side location 5 stars.
HVAC / Air Quality – 1 Star:
Our non‑smoking room was genuinely non‑smoking, but in the evenings smoke from other guests—either outside or in their rooms—came through the HVAC system. We didn’t experience this at the first Hilton we stayed in (a newer building), so I believe this can be managed better. Travelers with sensitivities or health concerns may want to consider a newer property. I have autoimmune issues, so the lack of clean air in the evenings was especially difficult.
Room & Some Staff – 3 Stars:
The room was outdated and not as clean as expected for the price. The essentials were clean, but overall maintenance and cleanliness fell short (see photos). A few staff members also felt either annoyed with us or overly pushy with “help” that seemed aimed at gratuities. We’re generous tippers, but being pressured for things we didn’t want or need was exhausting, especially after encountering this dynamic throughout the country.
Pool, Restaurant Service & Location – 5+ Stars:
The pool area, restaurant staff, and the hotel’s location on the Nile were outstanding. These amenities truly shine and are the reason we would still recommend this hotel despite the room issues and a few frustrating interactions.
