Yosemite's Eastern Gate or Tuolumne Meadows is not accessible when Tioga Pass is closed. All other Yosemite National Park entrances are open year round. This was our second time at the Tamarack Lodge, we came last year and came back this year because we were so impressed with last year's stay. Unfortunately this year we had problems with the heater. It just conked out in the middle of the night the first night. The maintenance man came and fixed it the next morning. But then it did the same thing again the next night. When he came back in the morning he said he would talk to the front desk about refunding us our resort fee but it did not happen. Unfortunate because otherwise we really enjoyed our stay.

Staff was extremely friendly and helpful. Our room was nice, bathroom was very small though. They even had a piano player in the evening. Would recommend this place to others. The lodge is right next to Twin Lakes, in a very pretty location.

Tamarack Lodge was a delightful, cozy and welcoming place. The lodge dates back to 1924 and has that old lodge vibe. Its located on Tamarack Lake with great views. Room was small, but the lobby areas was cozy with tables and chairs and a couch in front of the huge fireplace. Staff was so friendly and very helpful and knowledgeable of the surrounding area with great suggestions on places to visit to view the changing colors of the Aspens.
