Two of the most incredible nights of our lives

This hotel and the service by Carla and her staff was simply perfect. The room was sublime, and the location could not have been more ideal. They served a delicious breakfast and made sure we were satisfied at every turn. Carla’s knowledge of the area and passion for Matera added so much to our stay. We will be back one day, hopefully next year, and I would not dream of staying anywhere else.

This is a truly unique, beautiful place, built into a cave, right in the Sassi of Matera. The owners/operators of the hotel are kind, helpful, and wonderful, and the breakfast was excellent.

Beautiful property! The service was impeccable and the breakfast was spectacular. We were thinking of canceling our stay due to some logistical issues but we were so glad we decided to go and made it work. Matera was my favorite place to visit in Italy. It was hard to get to since the train station was closed but we traveled via Trinitalia link -speed train to Sorrento and bus from Sorrento to Matera but it was very efficient.

This was our favourite of all 5 properties we stayed in Puglia. The staff were wonderful, even before we arrived their service was incredibly attentive. They catered for my gluten free requirements more than anywhere else I've ever stayed. The cave room was gorgeous, all modern conveniences, but sympathetically designed to retain the old world charm. We loved it, and highly recommend for your Matera stay.

What a unique property with a prime walkable location. Our room was built into the rock facade. Lovely decor with an Italian design sensibility. The bathtub and sink, the faucets, the ingenious clothes hanging line, the tile accents. All appreciated. The breakfast was incredible with every thing fresh, homemade and copious. The staff helpful. We parked in town, and were picked up at the garage and dropped off in Stassi- avoiding the challenges of city parking. We enjoyed walking around The beautiful city.

Beautiful property and excellent staff. Breakfast was excellent. Only downside was no door to bathroom, only a curtain, but it is a cave room. I would recommend this location and would go back again.
