The Space:

Gum Tree by Tiny Away is a peaceful tiny house retreat tucked beneath mature gum trees on a working 10-acre farm in Dixons Creek, just an hour from Melbourne. Set in the heart of the Yarra Valley, the property is also a gateway to the region’s renowned wine country, surrounded by open paddocks, fresh country air, and birdsong.



Where everyone can enjoy a classic and relaxing country retreat while helping feed the horses and chickens, creating a memorable farm stay experience and a true escape into the countryside. Beyond the property, the Yarra Valley offers plenty to explore, including Go Wild Ballooning and Healesville Sanctuary. Meanwhile, nearby attractions such as Stag Lane Farm Distillery, Masons Falls, and Donnellys Weir Picnic Area make for easy and enjoyable day trips.



This 139-square-foot tiny home features easy access to water, split air conditioning, a kitchenette, cooking equipment, and excellent bathroom facilities. These amenities include an eco-friendly cassette toilet with a removable waste holding tank, hand basin, and gas-heated shower—making it a perfect choice among relaxing holiday homes.



Guest Access:

Guests will have access to the tiny home and the surrounding back paddocks, where they can enjoy the open space, scenic views, and a walking trail leading into Kinglake National Forest.



Preorders & Activity available with 24 hrs prior notice:



Activities: Animal feeding - horses, chickens.

Meals: $25 for breakfast (supplies enough for two guests)

Firewood: $25 per load, includes kindling, firelighters, and lighter



Guest Advisory



- Please leave all gates exactly as you find them and stay within property boundaries. Guests are welcome to join us for feeding the horses and chickens—just ask!

- For the safety of animals, please do not enter paddocks with horses, the chicken area, sheds, or other outbuildings. The main house, pool, and house yard are private and not accessible to guests.

- Fire Pit & BBQ: Available on fire-safe days only. Not permitted during Total Fire Ban or fire restriction days.

- Nearest train station is Lilydale, approximately 30 minutes by car

- Taxi services are available but limited in the area. A hire car is strongly recommended for the most flexibility during your stay.

- Avalon Airport: approximately 1.5 hours by car, 115 km

- For stays of 5 nights or more, an additional cleaning fee will be collected to help maintain the cassette toilet and ensure a clean and fresh experience for all guests. We appreciate your understanding.

- For safety, guests must not enter any horse paddock or attempt to pat or handle the horses without us present. Horses are large animals, and even the gentlest horse can be unpredictable — we take their safety and yours seriously.
