Hill St Shack - Couples Getaway

Sitting on the corner of King and Hill Streets means that you can walk down the King St and through the path to what is arguably Merimbula¿s best kept secret in Bar Beach. Bar Beach is home to a great swimming beach, a short paddle to some great surf, the Bar Beach Kiosk which has become a local morning institution and a fantastic BBQ area.

The Shack:

Our classic beach shack is located in one of the most popular areas of Merimbula, situated just out of the hustle and bustle but still close enough to all the facilities and beaches Merimbula has to offer. The Shack gives a comfortable fresh air feeling, with the living area and kitchen that opens up to a fantastic deck over looking Bar Beach and Merimbula Lake.

The old cottage has been restored with love. You will be met with some extraordinary views and a huge front balcony with a seating area and BBQ facilities. The Shack is simple and cozy, a real rustic retreat for those looking for a low fuss holiday! Take time out and relax on the balcony overlooking the bay and Merimbula Lake or walk down the hill for a coffee at the Kiosk.


The Studio:
The studio itself is a brand new build with polished concrete floor throughout, a stunning covered deck with ocean views and a sleek kitchen. A BBQ, dining, sitting and bathroom, with walk-in shower complete the package.

Please note that there are no laundry facilities on site at present. Please also be aware that the shack does share the massive corner block with its daughter, `Hill St Studio

The location and views were perfect, the character of the house was very beachy, the only issue was the hot water was way too hot, maybe even dangerous.

Great for romantic getaway
From booking to checking out, communication was great. The place is exactly as advertised. It’s a small “shack” old fashioned cozy and comfy place. Everything provided. Had a very nice view from the balcony. Not far from town centre. My only feedback is we were wondering why we can’t light the cute fireplace. We stayed during winter, the heating didn’t actually heat the whole place. But upon saying, there was an electric blanket for convenience.

Cute little place in amazing location
We loved our stay here! We could put on our wetsuits at the house, grab our board, and head down to surf the bar from Bar Beach. The view from the deck is beautiful, it faces west so is perfect for sunset viewing and you can even get glimpses of people surfing. The kitchen is equipped with only basics but I think it’s a new rental so I’m sure over time it will become equipped with more tools for you to cook up a storm! Overall, we absolutely loved our stay here, as being able to walk to the surf & having a deck with beautiful views to enjoy a coffee & a wine on, is the dream getaway for us!
