Pros - the bed was very comfortable and the room was dark at night, the shower was great with plenty of hot water and the room was large and had a small kitchen area. The location was also great and walkable. The air con was excellent and the staff had put our air con on before we arrived so it was nice to walk into a cool room.
Cons - the motel was run down with broken floor tiles and weeds and rubbish in the common areas and a constant pile up of drawstring bags of dirty sheets and towels lining the walkways. The linen was washed in a small open laundry room with a few washing machines on non-stop so they didn’t seem to be able to get it done efficiently. There was an empty bottle of bundy on our balcony when we arrived and everything seemed slightly grimy. We bought cleaning supplies and cleaned all the surfaces ourselves as we were staying for over a week, but curtains and sofa were still grubby and curtain was torn and sofa had a cigarette burn. We covered the sofa with towels. We booked an additional 7 days before we arrived and we weren’t asked if we wanted our room cleaned in the whole 9 days. We asked for extra towels once during the stay but emptied our own bins and didn’t have our sheets changed. There was no shelf in the shower so we had to put our soap in a mug on the floor. Overall we had good value for money as it was peak holiday season but the hotel needs maintenance and a good clean and linens professionally laundered offsite.
