Clean, modern room. Everything worked. Slow check-in. Seemed to be a problem with the beds. We wanted a double but ended up with two singles. No English speaker available. Fussy member of staff insisted helping us with the luggage, but made a real mess of it. Suspect they were expecting a tip!

Merzig was, for my family, an overnight stop both to and from Rettenberg. The hotel was quickly found from the motorway and parking was available. The rooms and bathrooms were clean and pleasant. That breakfast was included was a bonus and there was a good choice of well prepared tasty food. Staff were welcoming, pleasant and helpful. If all Holiday Inn Expresses are as good, they will be my future choice on my journeys.

Great hotel, very welcoming

A great hotel for a stop over on the way to Austria. Everything was clean and all the staff were friendly and welcoming. We can also recommend the pizzeria in the tennis club nearby where the food was delicious, reasonably priced and everyone was very friendly. We will definitely stay here again (this was our second visit)

Only had 2 one night stays in this hotel was very clean. It stated there was bar food available and on the menu it had pizzas. We tried to order pizza after we arrived about 7pm and was told there were no pizza available and we could go to the brewery pub which was only a very short walk away. This pub was excellent, we ordered drinks and food and when the food came the portions were very large. (I have a very good appetite and found it difficult to finish my meal). The bedrooms were spacious and in the bathroom the shower base was a very good non slip floor. The only problem we had with the room was the hight of the bed, which we found difficult to get into easily. Despite the things I have mentioned if we were going to Germany again I would consider this for our stay over nights.

Modern hotel with great staff and amazing views

Welcoming staff with great language skills made this an easy and relaxed place for an overnight stop. Easy parking, very comfortable room, and good breakfast. Excellent Michelin guide listed restaurant within 2 minutes walk - Casa Casutt. :)

Overnight Stay

The hotel was nice. It was very quiet and close to the freeway. The room was clean and a good size. The breakfast area was organized and clean. The front desk spoke multiple languages. I would stay here again.
