Hotels & Accommodation near Mesa Falls

The fishing bear lodge is basic but a great place to stay. It is obvious the owner has worked hard to make it cozy and a home away from home. This most recent stay was our second.

Everything was great and clean

The lodge was built for large family groups. The rooms were outstanding except for one. The eating area is small and crowded. The room does not accommodate sitting arrangements for no more than 16 and even with 16 it is very crowded. The bedroom arrangements for our 5 families (5 adult families and nine children ranging from 18 to 8) were outstanding. There were 3 king rooms with their own bathrooms and two queen bedrooms sharing a bathroom. The rest of the queen bedrooms and the large bunk rooms with shared bathrooms were more than adequate to accommodate larger family groups. The lake was the highlight of the afternoons with the lodge's kayaks and paddle board along with those that our family brought. The lodge had plenty of life jackets. The game room and theater room provided entertainment during the evenings with other family members playing games in the living room and dining room. We did have a few issues in the kitchen. We had to clean the main kitchen's refrigerator and microwave oven before use. The kitchen refrigerator had dried food on the shelves, and the microwave had burnt food in the drawer. You should consider bringing your own frying pans. The lodge's three frying pans should have been replaced long ago. Also, the BB grill was unusable unless you want to spend a few hours cleaning the grill on your vacation.
