My flight was cancelled so after being rerouted I got in 12 hours later than expected. Even though the Orbis website instructions indicated there was always staff at the hotel, when I got there the door was locked and the lobby was dark. There was an after hours number which matched Orbis' number for the hotel. I called it numerous times. No answer, not message service. I knocked on the lobby glass. Finally in desperation, I dragged my suitcase a half mile to a neighboring Marriott. I was preparing to check in when a very kind staff person called me and told me he could let me in. The main grounds are fine and partially maintained, but there is evidence of run down, from peeling stucco, to extremely filthy carpets in my room. Very stained with God knows what (one large red-stain I hope is something like tomato juice). Check out was also problematic. At 5 am when I had to leave for the airport...no staff. My room keys would NOT open the front door to the lobby to return keys. My phone had accidentally unplugged so I had no way to signal for an Uber. Further the wifi in the hotel would NOT connect, so I was isolated and could not get help. Another 1/2 mile back to the neighboring Marriott to recharge my phone enough to get an Uber. In short...if you go to this hotel, you really are on your own. The one staff person I saw was very professional and kind, but clearly over-exerted as I was left stranded outside twice and he was simply not to be easily found.
