Head over to the stunning Northumberland Heritage Coast AONB with miles of golden beaches, peppered with historic castles or head west over to Hadrian’s Wall area where you can spend some time walking some of the ancient walls, perhaps stop at one of the Roman Forts. Stable Cottage is only a few minutes from Alnwick, home to the Duke of Northumberland who resides in part of the majestic castle, where some scenes in Harry Potter and Downton Abbey were filmed.
