La casa del gat a beautiful 5 bedroom and 4-star rated villa with a large private heated saltwater pool (mid-May/September). Surrounded with a huge garden with lounge chairs, barbecues, playgrounds.
Situated in a quiet location nearby the medieval village of Mosset, 10 minutes away from Prades. Ideal for large families, several couples or groups (walkers, cyclists etc.) or just for two persons. The region is famous for its sunshine and fresh air which makes it perfect for relaxing and hiking.

The house is arranged over two floors.
On the ground floor is the lounge with a dining area (big table and 12 chairs), a sitting area with sofas (tv, dvd, hifi, books, music, toys and games), a cosy log fire (free wood provided) for the cooler winter evenings.
There's free WIFI.
The kitchen is equipped with everything you could need, including a nespresso machine, microwave, dishwasher, mixer, big stove and oven, huge refrigerator and freezer, good knives, lots of pots and pans, plenty of gadgets and good quality, matching tableware for a big amount of people.
There is one bedroom downstairs with a double bed and a good quality bunk bed. This bedroom has an en suite bathroom with bath, double sink unit and toilet.
There is another bathroom with shower, sink that can be shared.
There is also a separate toilet on the ground flour.
There is a washingmachine and tumble dryer.

Upstairs are four bedrooms with views over the mountains. There are two twin bedded rooms and two double bedded rooms. One bedroom has an en suite shower room with toilet and sink. The other bedrooms share the family bathroom and toilet. There is an extra sink in one of the rooms. All beds have quality linen.
We provide everything you need for babies and small children: two cots, two high chairs, a baby-cook, two changing mats, two toilet seat inserts, a baby pot, plenty of toys and even a push chair. We charge no extra cost but hope you will take care of the equipment.

Outside
Large 11mx5m private heated crystal clear saltwater pool.
Whilst a heated pool is not always necessary in Summer you may find it more comfortable for holidays in the late or early season when water temperature may be cooler. The saltwater pool is a particularly appealing choice as it's better for the skin.
It is available from half May to September and is very well kept after.
The pool is completely fenced (safe for small children). It is surrounded by a luxury wooden deck with lounge chairs and stone paved terraces.

For your relaxation: an authentic high-end Nordic bath (hot tub) for 8 people, made in Sweden. The Scandinavians use it for the well-being effect, day or night, in the rain or in the snow. It's an excellent way to relax, escape from everyday life and combat stress: under the effect of the heat your muscles relax, only the crackling of the wood fire can be heard... This wooden tub with water heated to 38/40° is placed near the swimming pool from where you can enjoy the view of the mountains and observe nature and the stars.

There is a dining area wit a huge table and 12 chairs (teak furniture) in the front of the house, overlooking the pool and the garden with extensive views of the mountains.
In the back of the house you find another dining area with furniture, a big stone barbecue and a weber barbecue. You can choose to switch from place according to the sun, you always find a spot in the shade or in the sun.
There is a playground with children's toys (swings, slide),a volleyball court and a "terrain de pétanque". There is a slack-line, darts and molki.
The huge garden and grounds (1,5 hect) are surrounded by trees, shrubs and flowers. There are over 200 square meter of paved terrace around the house.
Parking space for up to five cars.

Guests have private access to all areas of the house, garden, parking and pool.

We live on the same grounds. The two houses and grounds are completely seperated, with two different entrances.
We are there if you need help or any advice on walks, visits, restaurants but are not intrusive. We live here for almost 20 years and love hiking and the outdours. We provide all touristic information, maps and hiking guides.

The Neighborhood
With over 300 days of sunshine a year, Mosset in the Pyrénées-Orientales department of the Languedoc-Roussillon area (now Occitanie) is perfectly positioned between the Mediterranean Sea, with its beautiful sandy beaches or rocky coast (Collioure) and the Pyrénées, which offer a wealth of walking, cycling and fishing opportunities, not to mention skiing and snowshoeing in the winter, in a preserved natural space (Parc Régional des Pyrénées Catalanes).
Foodies can indulge themselves with fresh local food at the various markets in the area (Prades on tuesday and saturday) and enjoy wine-tasting.

The medieval villages such as Mosset, Eus, Castelnou (all Plus Beaux Villages de France) and the UNESCO world heritage site of Villefranche de Conflent.
A day at the thermal spa of Molitg-les-bains, only 3km from the house.
The relaxing hot springs at St Thomas-les-Bains, "The little Yellow Train"
that winds up to the high Pyrenees, the ancient Abbeys of St Michel de Cuxa and St martin du Canigou, the stunning Mediterreanean resorts of Collioure and Banuyls, Spain: the Dali Museum in Figueras, Girona, Carcassonne, the amazing Gorges the Galamus, the many cathar castles, , the spectacular caves Les canalettes, the animal parks of les Angles and the impressive African Safari park in Sigean, the Modern art museum in Ceret , Perpignan, shopping in Andorra.
Walks: There are several well marked footpaths for gentle strolling or hiking in te mountaineous countryside; You can visit Mount Canigo, the lakes of the Bouillouses, the gorges of Carança.

Alternatively, you can simply relax by the pool, take long lunches and afternoon naps and simply unwind surrounded by stunning countryside!

Getting Around
Parking space for up to five cars.
5 buses pass the house every day en route to Mosset, Molitg and Prades. From Prades, it is possible to get to Perpignan by train or bus. All journeys cost 1 euro.
Cheap flights to/from Perpignan (50 min. drive), Beziers, Carcassonne, Montpellier, Toulouse and Girona.

The house is non-smoking. You can smoke outside (covered terrace)
Pets are allowed but you should inform us that they are travelling with you.
Water, firewood, electricity and bedlinen included with no extra charge.
