Superb stay - but dodgy area

Lovely large room with comfortable clean furnishings. Superb (if slightly expensive) breakfast. No kettle / coffee in rooms. Ideal location when arriving by train just minutes from the Hauptbahnhof through covered tunnel - sadly some undesirables frequent the area and not sure too safe at night.

I'd like to know what privileged lives people are leading, when they say the area around the hotel isn't safe. Munich is a big, multicultural city and the people in the area reflect that, but we never once felt unsafe, even when arriving back to the train station at 10pm with my 5-year old in tow. The convenience to the train station cannot be overstated - it's SO easily accessible which made day trips to Salzburg and Neuschwanstein a breeze. The beds were comfortable, the water pressure is *strong*, and they held our bags at the end of our stay for free. Honestly, I have very few negative things to say about our stay. Yes, the indoor pool is cold - but I'm inclined to think that's on purpose, for you to enjoy after the sauna (which we didn't use). Yes, we paid a nominal fee to check in early at 10am. But there was air conditioning AND an electric tea kettle in our room, so you won't find me complaining. All in all, this was an excellent value for the location, quality, and amenities.

Hotel good position to main station. Would not like to stay there on own as the area around the hotel is dirty, people sleeping, smoking and generally scary. The pillows were horrible purchasing good ones would be good. Breakfast was great. Staff friendly.

We booked this hotel for the walkability to different locations around Munich and accessibility to public transportation. It is across the street from the main Central Station. We did find that there is a lot of construction in the area, but still able to easily get around on foot. The immediate neighborhood was a little run down, but there was an awesome German restaurant (München Stubn) right around the corner. There are coffee shops within walking distance. The area around the hotel has some casinos and adult clubs that add to a big city ambiance. It was a culturally diverse area. As advertised, the hotel was quiet, it appears to be geared more to business traveler and shorter stays. But made a great home base as we explored Munich and took day trips. The rooms were nicely appointed with a table and chairs, desk, tea kettle and coffee cups that worked well for our instant coffee, a small refrigerator and adequate storage space. The beds were comfortable. The breakfast buffet was not included in our package, but we ate there a couple different days. There was a good variety of food. The piano bar was also a nice place to stop for a drink, but they only have a piano player there September - December according to staff. Staff were friendly and helpful throughout the stay.

The hotel itself and staff were great but the location was not in a good neighborhood and we did not feel safe walking around. Outside is filled with trash, people loitering and drinking and smoking and drug deals right in front of us.

While the hotel its self is nice, clean and in proximity to the old town, finding the location of its parking was difficult and the area surrounding it is very rough. It kind og hidden inside a courtyard and people just gather around the street to beg, or smoke.

11am arrival. “Room still dirty. Come back after 2pm”. Behind reception looked a mess. And tired. Room ok. Average. Curtains didn’t close properly. Mini bar empty. No shampoo/conditioner. No bath robes. Spa was small pool and sauna. Pool free but sauna €5 surcharge. No steam room. Elevators have no choice to go up or down. So they stop even when going wrong way for you. Not the best area of Munich…

The experience was as expected and the room was comfortable besdie the pillows that was flat and uncomfortable. The only issue was that the WI-FI didnt work on the backside of the hotel where my room was located and had to go the lobby alot to connect to the WI-FI. Additionally they only give you one bottle of water at check-in and have to purchase more bottle water for your room if you need it. The hotel is very close to Munich Grand Terminal and was in walking distance (2 mins). Also was close to Old Town as well (5 mins). I would recommend this hotel again and if ever back in Munich would stay

Nice hotel that is located in a bad area of Munich. I was surprised that we had to pay five euro for sauna robe and shoes. Also had to pay 5 euro for the use of the sauna. Nice bar that does not have a television to watch sport events. Spain and Portugal played. I went to the hotel located next door to watch sports in their bar area. I have stayed at the Maritim five times. Three times in the last seven months. It's a nice hotel, but I will not stay there again.

Beautiful hotel, great staff

This hotel was beautiful and well priced. It had a very nice Piano bar on the property. The staff were very helpful, and it was in walking distance to the train station, and to the hop-on-hop-off bus tour we took. I will say that the area around the hotel did make me nervous, but at the actual hotel, the security staff were on top of it. Just need to be in groups if walking at night.

We enjoyed our stay the hotel was beautiful. I am very close to the train station and also close to the city center. The surroundings at night were a little sketchy. Otherwise it was OK during the day. In general, beautiful place and worth every penny.
