About this property

Lakeside Log House – Lake Views, Light & Log Fire

A warm and bright log house right by the lake, surrounded by nature's changing moods.

With its natural timber walls and a fire burning, the open-plan kitchen and living area is a place to cook together, share meals and enjoy a quiet day. Through the panoramic windows, you can watch the light and colours shift across the lake.

Enjoy your private lakeside terrace, go paddling, hiking or fishing – or try ice fishing in winter. The hot tub by the lake can be enjoyed year-round.

—— OPEN-PLAN LIVING, COOKING AND DINING ——

The ground floor has an open-plan kitchen, dining and living area. Whether someone is busy in the kitchen or reading on the sofa by the panoramic windows, everyone can enjoy their own activities, share a conversation or spend time together. The soapstone fireplace adds warmth and a cosy atmosphere to the living space.

—— TWO SEPARATE BEDROOMS ON DIFFERENT FLOORS ——

The Lakeside Loghouse has two separate bedrooms, each with its own door. The ground-floor bedroom has a king-size double bed. The upstairs bedroom is reached by an internal staircase and has one double bed (140 × 200 cm) and two single beds (90 × 200 cm). Both bedrooms have blackout curtains.

—— GROUND-FLOOR BATHROOM AND SEPARATE UTILITY ROOM ——

The bathroom is on the ground floor and includes a shower. Like the rest of the ground floor, it has underfloor heating. A separate utility room provides a washing machine and space for drying clothes and storing luggage or outdoor equipment.

—— PRIVATE LOG HOUSE AND LAKESIDE AREA ——

The Lakeside Loghouse stands on its own property at the edge of our traditional family farmstead. Our family home is approximately 40 metres away. The entire log house, its lakeside terrace and the area extending down to the lake are exclusively for our guests, including a private seating area with a fire pit.

—— LAKE ACCESS AND SWIMMING ——

You have direct access to the lake from your private area. For easier access when swimming, you can also use a grassy lakeside spot in the shared area, which our family uses as well.

—— PRIVATE DRIVEWAY AND PARKING ——

The Lakeside Loghouse has its own driveway directly from the public road, separate from the entrance to our family home. Private parking is available for more than one car, approximately 15 metres from the house entrance. The driveway and parking area are also cleared of snow in winter and accessible by car with standard winter tyres.

The boathouse and its dock beyond the shared swimming area are for our family's private use.

—— PERSONAL CONTACT AND AVAILABILITY ——

Whenever possible, we welcome our guests personally on arrival and give them a brief introduction to the log house. During your stay, we leave you to enjoy your time in privacy but are always happy to answer questions, share local knowledge and suggest activities based on your interests.

You can contact us at any time through Airbnb messages and, after booking, also via email or phone if needed.

—— HOT TUB – YEAR-ROUND USE AND COST ——

The wood-fired hot tub by the lake is available year-round, except in extreme weather conditions. We fill it with fresh lake water and heat it for you on request. The cost for filling and heating is €70.

—— FREE AND OPTIONAL OUTDOOR ACTIVITIES ——

Kayaks and a canoe are available free of charge on request. We provide suitable life jackets for adults and children and share a few practical tips about the lake and weather conditions.

A small rowing boat (4.20 m, maximum 3 people) with a Minn Kota electric motor is available to rent for €25 per day or €120 per week. We also offer guided outdoor activities by arrangement, particularly fishing trips on the lake. For more information about our guided tours, please see Lakeside Loghouse.

—— WI-FI – SUITABLE FOR REMOTE WORK ——

Typical internet speeds are approximately 70 Mbps download and 50 Mbps upload, suitable for video calls and everyday remote work. Speeds may vary.

—— BED LINEN AND TOWELS INCLUDED ——

—— OUR DOGS AND FARMYARD LIFE ——

Our small family farmstead is home to chickens, cats and three sled dogs, as well as a small vegetable garden. You may hear the rooster crowing in the morning or see the dogs running and playing together on the grass. Around feeding times, the dogs sometimes bark and then howl together, much like a small wolf pack. They do not enter the private guest area around the log house.

—— GETTING HERE AND SHOPPING ——

The Lakeside Loghouse can be reached by car or public transport. The nearest grocery store and train station are about 4 km away. From there, local buses can bring you to within approximately 1 km of the house, depending on the timetable.

Many of our guests fly to Stockholm Arlanda Airport and rent a car there. Alternatively, Åre Östersund Airport is approximately a 20-minute drive from the log house and also offers car rental.

—— WINTER CONDITIONS AND NORTHERN LIGHTS ——

Snow usually covers the area around the log house from early December through March. The lake typically freezes in late November and often remains frozen until late April. Conditions vary from year to year.

On clear, dark nights, you may see the northern lights around the log house. Faint displays are relatively common, while the spectacular, colourful northern lights are much rarer.

—— STAYING WITH CHILDREN ——

A baby cot and high chair are available free of charge on request.

The shared farmyard area also has a trampoline, swings and a simple climbing wall, which children may use under parental supervision and at their own risk.

Our dogs are used to being around children and enjoy friendly interaction. We ask parents to accompany children when meeting the dogs, especially if they have little experience with dogs.

Please be aware that the lake is directly accessible from the guest area without a barrier, and the indoor staircase has no child safety gate.
