Amazing staff. Jessi at the front office was so nice and very helpful. Location is within walking distance to lots of dining options. Rooms are very clean and comfortable. I will definitely be staying here again when I’m in New York.

Overpriced Pretend Boutique Hotel in NYC

I recently stayed at Truss NYC, which promotes itself as a boutique hotel—but from the moment I walked in, the experience was far from boutique. The lobby was anything but inviting, with a cheap plastic leaf wall and a check-in desk that was basically plywood painted black. It felt thrown together and uninspired, setting the tone for the rest of my stay. My room was in clear need of repair, with the bathroom especially in desperate need of attention. There was also a disturbing stain on the curtains that made me not even want to get close enough to take a photo. Overall, the decor felt like a few trendy Scandinavian-inspired pieces were added in an attempt to pass off the space as upscale, but the reality was nowhere near the price point I paid. The only redeeming factor was the staff. Everyone I interacted with was polite, professional, and helpful. But nice staff can’t make up for a property that feels like it’s pretending to be something it’s not. Considering the premium rate, I left highly disappointed and will not be booking here again.
Tile in the bathroom clearly has been damaged and repaired very poorly. The bathroom ceiling paint was peeling and cracked.
The chair provided for the desk is way too low and the desk is fixed to the wall. There’s no way anyone can do any work with this set up and the property does not have a business center.

Worked well for us!

Absolute bare bones room, crazy lighting, nice bath and plenty of towels , shampoo etc. high bathtubs to climb into but liked shower wand. Staff very friendly and helpful.

The first night and day the AC kept going out. Staff was quick and nice about handling it. It just sucked not having AC for the first day and night and into the next day. Overall enjoyed the stay!!

We had an amazing stay! The staff was very accommodating and helpful especially about parking and places to eat. The bed was very comfortable and the shower's water pressure was great. We will definitely stay here again whenever we decide to visit home. We were made to feel welcome and we appreciated all of what Truss provided!

The staff was nice, friendly and offered us water when we arrived. They were quick to get us checked in and during the whole stay were great. The building on the other hand boy was that a disaster. For starters our room was on the 2nd floor which once you get off the elevator had all the ceiling tiles missing and wires just dangling looked like they were going to do some work, only problem was we were there during the week and no one was did any work or anything they 3 days we were there. We walk up to the door of our room and there was a dirty microfiber cloth just sitting in front of the door. Then the so called "soundproofing" ya thats a joke. I didn't sleep the whole 3 days. Even with the less traffic in Manhattan all you hear is cars and people 24/7 I felt like the homeless dude outside of our window probably had it just as "soundproof" as the room. The room was ok, definitely your typical small Manhattan hotel room but the bathroom was down right disgusting. The shower was completely unusable, the floor had some nasty white film all over that we was crusted into the floor tiles. Definitely need flip flops to shower here.
