A storied property that unfortunately has not been well maintained over time. There were bugs in our room when we checked in. Air conditioning units had to be reset multiple times during our stay. Service at "Top of Newport" was extremely slow. Daily charge for Valet Parking $$$$.

The pet fee wasn’t clear enough that there’s a mandatory $150 cleaning fee that they waived. It’s a gratuitous cash grab. So is the resort fee of $45 that allows the property to list attractively on Expedia as it’s not included as a room fee. It’s total garbage. Lastly, there’s so much deferred maintenance that to call this a 4-star property is a cruel joke on 3-star assets. Hotel Viking offers the promise of timeless elegance but all it really delivers is a sad reality of an ownership group trying desperately to pick their customers’ pockets of pennies.
