Room, breakfast and location excellent - can’t fault it. Hotel perhaps a little worn at the edges. Only thing that let it down was the area the bottom of the stairs which we walked down instead of waiting for the lift. We had to walk over broken dirty tiles to get back into Reception. Otherwise faultless and would definitely return.

Decent stay in Notts just about.

Hotel was slightly off the beaten track, but ok. Nice welcome from guy on reception. Room pleasant. Shower was rather weak and either boiling or cold. Shops nearby, which was good.

In the city for a wedding, the hotel providing the perfect base. Close to the city centre, but still nice and quiet near to the Caste (that’s clearly just a big house!)

Reception was excellent. Parking at NCP was good but pedestrian access/regress was bad in that no lift, and stairway did not have easy access to hotel. THE HOTEL WAS NOT VERY WELL ADAPTED FOR DISABLED PERSONS ie No wheelchair ramps, no good handrails on steps/stairs and bath room did not have a hand grip for anyone wishing to have a shower so could easily slip when exiting the bath. My wife is registered blind and was disappointed with hotel for these reasons. Otherwise we enjoyed our stay and were happy with hotel staff.

Not a 4* hotel

I booked the hotel based on its reviews, but was a bit disappointed to be honest. From the outside the hotel looks lovely, but once you step through the front door you are met with a mirrored purple palace akin to somewhere Del Boy would stay (for those familiar with that classic British programme). One of the lifts was out of order, and the other one was so slow it seemed to take an age to come to a stop at our floor; we even overheard other customers commenting on it. And the foyer smelt like cigarette smoke. The room decor was…interesting. Again, more purple, crushed velvet and pvc leather bed cushions. I was half expecting a mirrored ceiling, and couldn’t bring myself to sit on the crushed velvet sofa on account of the dodgy looking stains. The walls were scuffed/chipped and the toilet roll holder fell off the wall the first time I used it. The shower was hot, but low pressure, and the shower tray immediately backed up and didn’t drain properly, so I had to shower in bursts to give the tray a chance of draining and not overflowing. Plus point: the bed was comfortable. Overall: disappointed. I wouldn’t rate the hotel as 4*

Second stay and glad I returned.

Second stay at this hotel and glad I returned. Lovely and comfortable. Staff friendly and helpful. Room nice and comfortable. Breakfast good choice. Is a great location in the city. Only issue was the scary carpark - really steep slope and corner to navigate. Not sure I would use again and just go with the NCP near hotel instead.

Stayed one night, check in fine, staff friendly, room was clean, quiet and well stocked, convenient for all city centre locations and chargeable parking available close by. All in all a nice stay, only negative was trying to get breakfast the next morning. No staff around anywhere despite a sign asking guests to wait to be seated. Eventually the few of us queueing gave up waiting and entered anyway, but we then struggled to find places to sit as many of the available tables were used and had not been cleared or cleaned. Nice breakfast though and plenty of choice.
