Unfortunately, our stay was very uncomfortable. Zanzibar has frequent power cuts. This property has a generator but the owner is reluctant to turn it on at night, apparently because other guests found it noisy. On our 2nd night stay, at midnight the power went off completely and we were left with no lights, no A/C, no fan, and no electricity whatsoever. Soon the heat in our room became unbearable. We asked to speak to the owner and we spent over half an hour arguing for the generator to be switched on. Eventually, other guests also came out to complain and she switched it on. I asked about going to the bathroom without lights and she suggested using the torch on our mobile phones!!! Either way, the A/C is not connected to the generator, so it remained unusable once the generator went on. When there was power, the air conditioning didn’t work properly anyways, ours was set to 16°C, but made no difference. On top of this, the Wi-Fi is very slow and unreliable. Please note: This property has recently been renamed from Ellavita to KIVI Cottages so these comments apply to both properties.

Great place to stay!

Had a wonderful stay! The room was well appointed. Great breakfast. Fantastic gardens and a nice quiet space really close to the beach. The owners and staff were fantastic super hospitable. I hope to return

La camera niente di che,purtroppo il bagno era troppo piccolo con un lavandino piccolissimo che a malapena riuscivi a lavare le mani. Spessissimo mancava corrente elettrica e non sempre funzionava il generatore. Le camere con finestre sul generatore si era nell’impossibilità di dormire se acceso di notte. Fortunatamente per me ho chiesto ed ottenuto il cambio di camera per cui il rumore si è attenuato del tutto. Non ritornerei.

Sødt personale men ofte er der ingen på hotellet. Der er ofte intet varmt vand og ingen at meddele det til. Så vi måtte bade i koldt vand. Strømmen går ofte på øen og hotellet har ingen generator så da den gik i næsten 1 døgn sad vi i mørke, da der ikke var tænkt på alternativt lys. Da det blev påpeget fandt de dog en solcelle lampe til os. Da vi havde aftalt med hotellet at de skulle hente os i lufthavnen havde de misforstået hvilken dag vi ankom trods flere samtaler om hvornår vi ankom. Det var ikke muligt at ringe til hotellet og vi sad i et par timer midt om natten i lufthavnen før vi fandt transport selv. Da vi så kom til hotellet måtte vi banke på forskellige døre for at finde nogen der kunne tage imod os. Morgenmaden er meget beskeden og er ikke hvad vi forstå ved engelsk breakfast. Ikke et sted jeg vil anbefale andre

We had a very nice stay at Ellavita Cottages. The room was cozy and Tina and Khalifa are very nice hosts. They are always there when you have a problem and can help you with everything. They also know the place well so any question concerning activites can be answered. The breakfast is also delicious. Would definitely recommend and come back if we would go to Nungwi again.

Its a very nice place with very nice owners. They do every thing to make you feel comfortable. The breakfast was serves outside the cottage every morning when we diceded to get up. Quiet place close to the Beach and restaurants. You feel safe.

Fåes ikke bedre til prisen.

Særdeles venligt og serviceminded ungt værtspar. Bungalows ligger centreret omkring en dejlig rolig have. Beliggenhed i forhold til Nungwi’s bedste strand, kan ikke være bedre. Mega sødt personale. Super bungalows til prisen.
