We stayed in 2 rooms that are next door as a family on level 6 (top). It's a tiny clean and white washed hotel. Every thing feels a bit squashed and tucked away... the TV at a strange angle on the counter, little table space.. but it is all clean and all good. The internet in 604 was in and out and there were a few little things missing to make it better.. the aircon is fixed at 20° so if that's too cold you have to sweat it out and turn it off. The steam iron didn't work, earbuds and conditioner missing.. only just the little things. Only the ladies at the reception were great.. the man at night was rude. The breakfast is simple and fine but the crossaints delicious. The location is good.. about 5 min walk from 2 metros Oberkampf and Republique. Great neighbourhood with bars and boulangeries. I would rate this a 3 star hotel, it was good but i wouldn't return it recommend it for the price we paid mid July.

The room was well designed and cupboards were provided. The windows were able to be opened for fresh air and the bathroom was a good size. I recommend that the Hotel offer increased lighting in the room - it would have given the sense of more space but more importantly things like finding clothes in the suitcase of re-packing would have been easier

A best outcome from a mistake booking

Pros: The sound proof may not be great. You occasionally could hear next door neighbour open their door and thought someone was trying to open your door.
I was browsing online and pre-booked a few hotels while we were staying at a 4-star hotel in Paris where we could extend. This one was accidentally booked as I forgot to check if it's cancellable and it wasn't, that means that we had to move to this 3-star hotel early in the morning very next day when we planned a full-day trip to Versailles Palace. Hotel Gabriel reception staff greeted us friendly and helped us to store our luggage in the reception because our room wasn't ready in the early morning. I kept my head down and listened every word of hubby's all day that day (?). I was just hoping that the hotel wasn't too bad compare with previous 4-star. After an exhausting day we check in to the hotel after 10pm. We must have waken up next door neighbour with our excitement when we walked in to the room. It was sparklingly shining with all cleverly designed furniture. The room isn't big as most Paris hotel rooms are, but it is very functional, we could hide away most of our junks. The bed was comfortable, the bathroom was spacious and clean. The breakfast was inclusive and had variety of food and open up to 11am which, I think, is quite civilised when you are on holiday. It's 4 mins to walk to the metro station. There is a very good cafe with very reasonable price just out of the metro station. I suggest to try their 'farm chicken'. I would rather choose this 3-star hotel than the 4-star hotel we stayed previously.
